  1. Know exactly what you mean my speakers are the same way 15" Eminence drivers with 16x9 Tractrix horn's and 2" exit drivers with 3" voice-coils and magnets the size of 12" woofers these guys just loaf along. I've been playing with various Klipsch speakers for 20 years now and room acoustics and equipment matching are critical to getting a great experience very easy to get it wrong and have it sound bad or harsh but when you get it right it is very rewarding.
  2. Very cool, thanks for sharing! I just saved the full playlist to listen to on the main stereo later today:
  3. Not sure about your ability to sell others can chime in on that as to value physical and working condition are going to be big variables also if you have the original box and manual that helps. Clean it up, plug it in and test it, take some pictures and report back if you can. If its clean and works as it should I would think $500 would be a good starting point?
  4. I have been using the KT-120's since they've arrived-- they run considerably cooler than the 34's do and my AC unit has a hard time keeping up during these hot summer days. First thing I noticed when I received the 25 was that voices and certain guitars seem to be pushed forward compared to the 120's and the 34's seem to be just a tad lighter in the bass. Overall balance is different, I like both too. That being said almost everything is different in my system now (new DAC, Pre and speakers) and I'm dealing with a broken back so haven't been able to do much right now, part of the reason I've been online so much over the last month. Once my back is a little better and temps drop a bit I plan on playing with the stereo some more.
  5. Intrigued by this statement right here-- curious if you have a number for the 275 or BM-25 for comparison?
  6. Some attribute depth of soundstage and holographic imaging to the even order harmonics in tube gear, what happens when you eliminate that? That's my only real criticism of my Black Magic 20 amplifier, the original one from 10+ years ago, while it has a large, very wide soundstage and a nice, warm-ish tone it lacks the depth of the newer 275 and BM 25. Some reviewers call it "new" tube sound vs "old" tube sound newer being more solid-state like.
  7. I totally understand that and agree but that does not change the fact that the 275 was rated to output 75 watts x2, 20hz to 20khz-- are you suggesting that the 275 can deliver that amount of power when connected to a loudspeaker playing music? If not then that published spec was bogus and rightly called out and the major source of negative press. Again not trying to be disrespectful or hurtful here thanks.
  8. You know the way I see it is (and please forgive me if this sounds too critical) you guys were caught with your pants down, you have egg on your face from this disastrous 275 review and really the only person / people to blame are the ones who came up with the 75 watts 20hz-20khz spec-- had the amp been correctly advertised at 75 watts at 1khz (which the resistor test proved) this review would not have created the fuss it has. I really don't see the logic in bashing the test itself as Carver was not singled out or the only one subjected to this type of testing all other manufacturers have to go through the same test. All you can do is move forward hopefully learn from this experience know that everything you say and do will be carefully watched and scrutinized, there's nothing that can be done about the past and pretending to be a victim here is not helping your cause. The rules are the same for everybody, the 275 did not meet published specs nor was it supposed to whoever decided to advertise the amp that way is the one to blame, at least in my mind. Again, hopefully this is not taken the wrong way I love Carver products and yes that includes the 275 amplifier and I'll likely be one of the first buyers of the 285 amplifier when it becomes available I have not lost faith in the brand and I'm sure most Carver fans have not either.
  9. If you want to get out in front of these clowns with future or current products post your own measurements. I've watched Bill Flannery test several Sunfire amps right in front of me for power output per channel and distortion they always exceeded the factory rating. Back when I was into car audio MTX power amplifiers came with a hand written test sheet with actual measurements from each amp seems easy enough each amp is tested for quality anyway right?
  10. Welcome aboard! The TFM-45 is a great amplifier and is what initially got me hooked on the Carver sound. My late uncle purchased a full Carver rack set with Klipsch forte speakers new from Magnolia hi-fi and when I first heard it my jaw hit the floor unbelievable sound loud and crystal clear, great gear. After he passed away I took the amp to Rita's and had it completely gone through told her to replace everything and had Bob Carver sign it in memory to my cousin and he still uses it today. Post often and post pictures everyone loves pictures; gear, speakers, bands, girls, cars, funny meme's whatever you're into.
  11. I like these guys something different
  12. Not a Miley fan at all but think she really does a great version here:
  13. @BluesMan57 Really dig your taste in music and women thanks for sharing!
