  1. Like Kev, I am looking at the reference disc project & finding no female voices. Did I overlook an entry? How about Diana Krall, A Case of You, from Live In Paris? Just voice & piano, exquisite & delicately nuanced.
  2. Welcome aboard! As you said, lots to read & learn. You are in good company.
  3. Mark Lettieri (Snarky Puppy) covers Jeff Beck's Thelonius (Blow By Blow) spliced with Sunny by Bobby Hebb (1966).
  4. Since you are tinkering, a next step (perhaps already in someone's basement): an automated system that conveys sequentially loaded LPs into a cleaning vat, spins LPs (one or more) in the cleaning solution for a programmed time, lifts to spin off residual fluid, then moves them to a rinse vat w/spin, lifts to spin discharge residual fluid, then conveys to an end-of-line drying station.
  5. In memory of Sir George Martin (3 January 1926 – 8 March 2016), The Pepperland Suite from In My Life. Originally on Yellow Submarine soundtrack, this arrangement of the melodic theme has a dramatic, muscular symphonic midsection and splendid sound. It can stand itself aside from the film.
  6. Nimble thinking there, TT. We never use our dishwasher either, it is a place for glasses, cups, etc. I knew someone who used theirs as a bookrack. I like the re-imagining.
  7. Dennis, this has been residing offline in the To Post file for several days, having stumbled upon it while chasing down Trey Gunn videos (I'm a fan). Compelling, in a Finnish-Crimson sorta way.
  8. The first snow of Winter.
  9. For our friends north of the 49th.
  10. As reviewed @ Stereophile: "Music in any recorded format is fair game, the only restriction being that it must still be available, if only in the deep, dark recesses of the Internet. Of course, favorites come and go in minds and hearts—speaking of dark recesses—but these are Stereophile's takes on the essential music of the moment. Enjoy!" ps: I like to peruse these Lists for music to checkout. Feel free to comment & add your own.
  11. Procol Harum performs an orchestral plus choir version of their very own Whiter Shade of Pale. Such a splendid venue.
