  1. A free one from B&W.
  2. Eric Johnson, Up Close. (op. cit., EJ & Mike Stern make a fine pair.)
  3. Following Balok's relax:
  4. Wayne Shorter featuring Milton Nascimento, Native Dancer, although the order is arbitrary. At one time when my circle of friends was predominantly Brazilian, my music library (60s-70s am & fm radio–fm radio was rad then) left the gravitational pull of North America & Brazilian LPs streaked in like comets. I no longer have those Brazilian LPs, this one is comes back as CD.
  5. "School, a part time job, and a full time girlfriend are keeping him real busy. " School<part-time job<full-time girlfriend, the time priorities subtly fall into place for young men.
  6. Cho, Choying Drolma and Steve Tibbetts.
  7. Having just played the Jerry Douglas recording of A Remark You Made on his Best Kept Secret, the Weather Report version here was in the CD changer for immediate comparison–by my wife (This sometimes makes her bristle, but this was not a Who is this? game just a wuddaya think?) "Very nice. The saxophone player is really good,? Who is this, Mike Stern Band? Reminds me of something he would play." The two versions could make it on to the Best Cover Songs thread, I'll check for videos.
  8. CDs are unpacked, out of boxes, on the racks but in total disarray–my "organized moving" was a folly. Taking a cue from Dennis , KK is found amidst the chaos.
  9. "Who's this," my wife says,"I'd buy it!" Handing her the CD jacket, "Derek Trucks is here, I thought so (on track one), this is good! Why'd you pick it.?" We have just returned from the library, me checking out CDs. "We have a CD of his, Jerry Douglas. This one has a cover of A Remark You Made by Joe Zawinul, remember we saw him at Blues Alley? This a favorite of mine." "This is good," she adds. I turn it up.
  10. King Crimson, In The Wake of Poseidon, only because my wife has gone for a walk whilst dinner cooks.
  11. Could the foam be repaired with Maxell tape?? Iconic speakers, probably the first ever on my teenage wish list. Edit: remembering the classic commercial with the JBLs.
  12. Welcome, it's nice to hear of your dream materializing. That you get to hear it is better yet! Loner_t pointed to the 2015 Carverfest speaker story, it has been very well received. In KEF have you listened to the LS50? As I recall loner_t has a pair as well the 2015 CF, AKA Sonorous, you might check with him.
  13. Ever been to a B & O store? There was one nearby (one move ago) in a big mall. Eccentric is an apt description, in a curiously fascinating way. Like walking into an exhibit of gizmos from old sci-fi movies. Never did hear any music though, dialogues of staff & prospective buyers took precedence in the open design floor plan. Maybe loner_t can say more, l_t? Take along some ECM label music . And visit the Tesla store, too.
  14. I've nothing to add to this review other than this is really nice. "For all the anger and devastation trumpeter Terence Blanchard has felt in the months since Hurricane Katrina ravaged his hometown of New Orleans--and the federal government failed it so shamefully--this elegiac orchestral work is remarkably clear-eyed, restrained, and, in the end, hopeful. That isn't to say pieces like "Funeral Dirge" and "Levees" don't impart deep and dark emotion. But even with strings at their back, Blanchard and the members of his first-rate working quintet (all of whom contribute compositions) never indulge in sentimentality. Blanchard's debt to Miles Davis is pronounced in his pinched lyricism and the economy of his virtuosic effects. The richly hued work washes over the listener, revealing more with each playing."
  15. Good on Sunday morning, laundry & baking:
  16. I had ALS Silvers that eventually developed a distortion at louder volume-was it amp (M1.0t) clipping or woofer bad behavior? Most of the woofer foam surrounds had small tears (the cats were fond of climbing them) that became a nuisance at greater excursion. Eventually replaced the woofers when the tears degenerated to holes. Carefully check yours for small tears that might be patchable. Members can help you if you decide to refoam, buy replacements or try a woofer mod that has been posted.
  17. Good to see a passion rekindled and an 'ol home to welcome you back. Kick off your shoes!
