  1. Fortunately there was a good bit of rain the last 2 days of November and today on the news they said all the fires were out. Unfortunately, they also said the death toll was up to 7 people. I've lived in this part of the world for over 30 years now & I've never seen such a sudden sever drought. We had normal rainfall through early August then it just stopped raining and the temperatures were very high (7 record highs in a 14 day stretch the end of October). Conditions were just ripe for these fires, hope the catch the arsonists. Hangings too good for them.
  2. My parents had all those Kingston Trio albums and a couple more. Some of my earliest memories of recorded music. My brother ended up with all their albums but they can't be in very good condition by now.
  3. IMHO, going to the lower power amp for a pair of "power hungry speakers" is completely the wrong thing to do. Driving a lower powered amp into clipping is the single biggest cause of speaker damage. If the speakers are rated for 300-500 watts, use the 600 watt TFM-42's, not going to hurt a thing.
  4. Love that one. I need to get more Gary Clark.
  5. Sorry he's having problems, I've really enjoyed his blues festivals, I've got several on Bluray. I'm only 60 and really feeling some old snow skiing, water skiing and motorcycling injuries. Got an appointment with an orthopedic in the morning! But I would do it all again.
  6. So tragic to learn that Kieth Emerson's death was by his on hand.
  7. Please tell me there is no Volume Two.
  8. Seems like you are putting the cart before the horse to me. I've always chosen the speakers I like first and then picked an appropriate amp.
  9. I haven't see the insides of any of their current stuff, but the stuff I saw back in the 89's & 90's was all glitz and chrome on the outside and completely underwhelming on the inside. Way over priced, made Bose look good by comparison and they stuff their little boxes with total junk.
  10. I didn't think there were any good 8 track players. All I ever heard were car players with so much cross talk you could listen to 2 tracks at once. The tapes were a self destruct mechanism too.
  11. Might as well stay in the wrapper, it's probably worth more and 8 tracks sound awful at best. 8 track is one format that deserved to die. Loved the Dickie and Duane dueling guitars on the Allman Brothers albums, I may get this on CD. You can get it from Amazon for $5.67.
  12. Love that one. The entire album is covers, most of them work surprisingly well. American IV: The Man Comes Around
  13. How do you like that? I'm a big Gilmour fan but I missed it somehow when it was released. I see Amazon has multiple versions, single disc, dual disc, deluxe with DVD, etc. Just wondering if it's worth it for the deluxe versions. Looks like Prime only gives you the 10 tracks from the first CD.
  14. That's a classic, love it. One of the better "concept albums". Probably Drive by Truckers best effort. "When the paramedics got there they could still hear Free Bird playing on the stereo. You know it's a very very long song."
  15. In 1973 I joined the US Air Force... and sold my Honda 750K2 IN 1974 I BOUGHT A NEW STEREO....and had it shipped to my room in Cheyenne,Wyoming OHM F SPEAKERS...........$900 PHASE LINEAR 4000.......$600 PHASE LINEAR 400........$500 THORENS TD-160C..........$300 SHURE V15-3......................$50. -------- $2,350 Even at that pricing Ohm F's were out of my budget. I spent ~$400 on my complete system in 1975, that was before I heard the Ohm speakers. Even when I got out of collage and had a real job my next pair of speakers cost less than $900. I had cars & motorcycles to buy too.
  16. I heard the Ohm F speakers back in the late 70's driven by some Citation amps. I loved them but as a student they were out of my price range, particularly since they need a pricey high power amp. Very cool design.
