  1. Welcome, @Dave in Texas, glad you found us.

Love that receiver, and can't wait to see the pictures you have collected on your effort.

The "insert" picture step is very easy - just a few more posts from you to the site, and it will work for you  - like @Sk1Bum already said.  We put this process in place to reduce/eliminate spam on the site - this site is all volunteer operated, and funded.  And, it's also a target of spammers - hence the hurdle to separate the real Carver fans from the spammers is in place.  Thanks for understanding.

To insert a picture, I just drag and drop jpg file into the text editor from a file folder.  Drop it inline with the text you write, in the location you want the picture to be inserted in the text.  There are other ways too - and you can farble around with the justification - but that's more advanced.

  2. Hey @Ar9Jim. All these research reference points, blogs, videos, need to be collected in one place.

They are so revealing.  I wonder if instead of one-by-one posts, they could instead build more momentum in a common thread on "Testing Reactive Speaker Loads vs Static Resistor Loads.

I think the science here is critical, but the noise from the ASR's of the world dominate the discussion.

I'm pondering how we can help you / BobCarverCorp evangelize this more.

It may be incomplete for someone wanting to run a multi channel system. Bob drew this for 2 channel use.  I'm betting there are enough 2 channel guys remaining to justify it's production. We get calls for the C9 often, even after all these years. Many were disappointed that the V12 didn't have SH included. This is for them.

@Ar9Jim, I know you have a handle on this market and every detail required to product manage this product to success.  I have great confidence that your leadership will produce and ship the best solution that will keep cash flowing and the Carver Legacy intact - and leave room for future development of Rev2, 3, 4, ...

You got this! Success is in your hands.

  4. In developing a lot of products..., I've experienced "feature creep..." to the point of detriment to the organization..., bsni5.jpg

I am hoping that @Ar9Jim is squirrelling away all these great ideas for Rev 2, 3, 4, 5 down the road, each year.  Jsut my opinion..., but also my hope.  Waiting years for this product to get to market just doesn't make sense, when the demand as a basic integration is there to a HUGE market well beyond Carver audiophiles (simply basing that on how many C-9's sold into non-Carver systems historically, and how much they go for today in the used market).

Personally, I'm hoping for a modern-looking current latest implementation (with all the service bulletins and such) of a combo-product of Bob's past most successful inventions - all-in-one.  I really like the idea of having one box, in the processor loop, two switch in and out of circuit these existing components of SH, a TB, and Gundry, and any Bob Carver available icing on the cake (DTL?) that Jim can pull off - without introducing feature creep that shuts down the project before it can get out the door.

A superhero to entrepreneurs of all types, a guy named Seth Godin, has coined the phrase "ship it" so you can live to ship future revisions, another day down the road.

The initial technologies, SH, etc., are perfected, tried, and true.   And, good enough to "ship it" so we can see Bob Carver Corp., to thrive to ship more things on their list..., like the Tube-based Phono Preamp, like the V12 preamp, ..., like the new PCB-board-based 350 monoblocks..., tenor.gif

..., and if executed well, like I know @Ar9Jim can do, maybe we'll see the holy grail of production Silver 900 Monoblocks come back online.  Yea, THAT would be really cool!

    Get 'er done, Jim.,

Make a box with as many of Bob's creations as possible.

I can't agree with this more..., a universal processor box, include the latest of all of these..., switchable in and out...

As to the DTL, I think that in combination with a Tube Buffer, this is an excellent combination to add. I've got a setup with it, and like it or not, it always makes CDs and streaming, sound better on my rig.  Having it switchable in and out of the loop, is the key to giving universal customization to everyone that gets one of these.

And, like the C-9 was sold like hot-cakes..., to non-Carver owners, this kind of "universal has it all" unit will sell into every other audiophile stack - e.g., NON-Carver audiophiles will be the biggest market.

Ship it in 3 weeks! get it out there!

  6. Alternative to tubes sticking out the top with a cage, would be to put a window on the faceplate, a la Sunfire VTCC.

My thinking is that this unit has to be "sexy" to reignite the fervor that the original C-9 had - it was the highest volume, and highest profit Carver Corp product ever sold.  I don't think that it will get off the ground at all, if it is just a reincarnation of the original.

If identical to the original, it will compete with $100 used C-9's on ebay..., Not a good strategy.

People who try a tube buffer rave about them..., And, Bob Carver Corp already announced a "Tube-based" Sonic holography device..., so having a tube buffer is somewhat of an easy-to-implement (using knock-off Music Fidelity units from Asia) so pundits won't poo-poo the unit, when launched.

Meters are sexy, and while add no sonic value, are extremely inexpensive to implement a la the "carpenter builds an amp" thread last week.  No one can deny the "love them factor" that meters have on the 500t 😉   I just think that compared to all the black-box-style enclosure components in people's rigs, these days (endpoints, DACs, etc.) Having meters on the face of this unit are like a sunroof in a car.  They become a "gotta' have it" item, when given the choice - and therefore will likely drive sales volume.

I have not found a "combo unit" that implements these three things..., (SH, Gundry, Tube Buffer) in an elegant way - and this unit could replace a lot of clutter in a lot of people's systems.

And, of course, this has to get to market FAST..., can't be a 2+ year thing like the 285 or the V12...

Make it simple, make it sexy, and ship it fast... 😉
