  2. Yer killing' me!!! Geez!! Probably got closet stashed too. Stacked up clean outta sight in one picture. Now it's time for OCCD!
  3. Welcome Kmh, nice little pool system you have there, enjoy the site.
  4. Welcome to the site Chris, glad you decided to join us. I've owned a set of Studio 20's since '98 when they first came out and have been unable to part with them ever since. I joined the site not too long ago and have begun my exploration into the Carver gear, these guys are not kidding about that OCCD. The more I buy the more I see I have to have.......good luck. Pindrop
  5. Wow, those came out great looking. What degree did you end up cutting them at. Will you be using BlueTack on all 4 corners to couple them to the stands?
  6. Yea augie, I mentioned Hourglass Gaia sometime back, the way the tympanies roll across the front of the room is super powerful. It's a true gut check. Pindrop
  7. You have a great mind augie, I did the same thing and bought the Pure dock and a Squeezebox and run them both through a MyDac I picked up cheap because as you say these dacs will be obsolete next week but I also grabbed a Dragonfly and run it straight into a set of Audioengine 2's which is a lot of fun especially when run through my Sunfire Signature Sub first then the AE 2's.
  8. Remote control!!??!!! Lazy Americans!!! NO SOUP FOR YOU!! LOL
  9. Without hesitancy, the Carver C-1 and when you're ready send it out for a BillD mod/refurb. I say this without owning one but plenty of reading up about it around this site. I'm sold on the recommendation.
  10. Retriever you say that as though there was only lint in your pocket my friend, dig a little deeper there's still more available on the Bay
  11. Welcome to the forum Paul, your going to enjoy it here! Kennett
  12. Welcome to the site Jim. I just went and looked at the Wave Touch Audio site at the 4 speakers they have....those are some weird lookin' speakers, I've learned something new today which is what happens around here most of the time. It's a great site with a lot of great people! Welcome Kennett
  13. I did read in their email to me (I put myself on their list quite some time back) that any format that you play on the player would sound as good if not better but definately 24/192 is mind boggling good. What I do take into consideration is the $15-25 per that will be charged. I talked trash about buying ANOTHER Pink Floyd DSOTM but I do own a copy of the MoFi and it is awesome and worth the $30 I paid so if they're that much better I would consider moving towards it but still..., $400 for the player on the front end....damn, but I did invest in an Oppo just for the SACD abilities. I'm not saying no yet.
  14. I am looking forward to buying yet ANOTHER copy of Pink Floyd DSOTM......
  15. From what I can barely see, it looks like a line from top to bottom? I think I'm going to pass on these for now as my room is looking like a Paradigm/Definitive Tech sales room with 2 complete theater systems and a brand new pair of GoldenEar Triton 7's thrown in for good measure on the 2 channel. My brides not real happy with me Time to sell off a few but when I dooo..... They'll all go well with my new m1.0t mkll opt.002 Hashy is working on! Oooh yeah
  16. The 9 volt battery trick...Now that's one for the save and file bin, never heard of it but easy enough! Thanks zumbini pindrop
  17. That's where I was heading and if I escape with them in the car for $120 I can go
  18. OK I blew it, I pulled the leads off of one driver, after removing it because of it buzzing, and didn't pay attention to where the postive and negative leads went. Are they wired in series to present an 8ohm load to the amp or in parallel and the crossover takes care of it with both woofers wired positive and negative. Yea I know, pay attention next time, but I old and of feeble mind....
  19. Thanks, I asked just to find out how much less to offer. U nless they say firm I'd never just hand over the asking price. I 've had a pair of Paradigm Reference 20's since new and they're true but still a touch bright for my ears on some recordings. pindrop
  20. You made those look so nice it caused me to go in search of a pair on my TampaFl Craigs list. There just happens to be a nice looking pair (other than a nick on the front left corner) that have the black (Peerless?) tweeter. Are they the ones to have as my ears don't get along real well with aluminum domes. They are asking $140, is that a good deal or should I offer less? pindrop
  21. Thanks for your reply AndrewJohn, this point in life has been a long time coming, unfortunate the economy is so unstable. What with the kids grown and finally out of the billfold we can rise a little higher on the priority list. Sounds like you have a good woman there that knew you needed the Carver to retain that last bit of sanity. I know music is part of what has brought me through more than a couple of tough times and the best part is that the Carver amps ect. are still affordable after all these years. pindrop
  22. Hey Blues Pwr, I checked out Leslie West and much to my chagrin, just as the wife said to her husband at 3 in the morning as he talked to the insurance agent: "she sounds hideous". lol What's that? She's a guy?? Nevermind.....I enjoyed the recommendation, thanks. pindrop
  23. Yea thanks, I've already found some talks on the m400t that let me see what can be done to it that I'm interested in doing. Right now I'm just looking forward to getting "enlightened" by those lovely blue laser beams on that m1.0t that Hashy is about to start on.
  24. Thank you all for taking the time to welcome me. As soon as I posted that last night I had to roll out to go help a buddy set a repaired piece of gear in place and then it was necessary, as you all well know, to stay late in order to insure it was working properly....he has an old set of the original Large Advents that I took my m400t over and hooked to them a week or so ago. They sounded so dang good that he was forced to fix his 100 watt receiver. Quite a match as that 400t had total control of them probably due to them being from the same era. I just can't get past that tweeter as many advances have been made since then but it doesn't deter him from wanting to do the "Double Advent" trick before he moves on. Yeah chiroacademy I've learned quite a bit already and have had a number of questions answered just by reading around on here on the pieces that I now own or want to own including an oscilloscope. These guys are making me want to buy a broken amp just to see if I can bring it back or make it smoke. Speaking of wanting to own, Danowood are you sure 3 modded m1.0t's will suffice? Hopefully at least one is in another system. Seems you have the same malady I have in wanting to own or owning multiple Carver hearing aids. LOL Thanks for the welcome zoom, as I said, I'm very excited and feeling blessed to have run into Hashy like I did. Hey Zumbini, I wasn't kidding when I said I was computer illiterate but thanks for the welcome and thanks also for your link on posting pics. I promise you all even if I have to ask my understanding bride for help in posting them, I will get them on here. Jazzman53 and Blues Pwr I'm in St.Pete but lived many years in Dunnellon, which is 25 miles WSW of Ocala when my Dad was managing Rainbow Springs attraction. Daddyjt, I told Hashy I wanted mine to look just like his "Skull" amp, sans the skull 'cause he probably doesn't have enough of them to go around to all that he apparently has worked on. Now Retriever you do know I was just raggin' on you poor guys up there don't you. I can't tell you how glad I am to be a Floridian. Man, I can't handle the cold down here below 50 degrees. luvtubes thanks for the welcome and welcome to you as well. I think this is a great site. tlkohler has said my feelings before I even got my grubby hands on my new amp. It will go in the casket with me. Blues Pwr, you're dead in the middle of my wheelhouse dude. I own some if not a lot of all you mention except Leslie West but I will check her out and you might want to check out Betty Fox on youtube . She is from down here but what a voice! BTW did you know Warren has a new album out for the first time in years called Shout? Now I must also say I was brought up with Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops along with all the "Big Bands" and symphonies through my Dad and all the show tunes- The King and I, The Sound of music ect. through my Mom so I'm wide open to most music. Barry G and dcl, I look forward to all the info I can retain on here but I will ask some off the wall questions just to see who's paying attention. Like here's a question to ALL : I told Hashy that I would give some thought to a handle for this site and pindrop is what I came up with, does anybody know what it refers to? pindrop
  25. Hello from sunny Central Florida!!! As I sit here in my shorts with the A/C on enjoying my umbrella drink, I find it's time to come out from the shadows of the forums where I have been perusing the site and filling my mind with much useful information about a product that I've had a love for since it first came on the market. Back in those days I was a very young family man that loved good sound but had priorities that required most financial gains to go toward housing, clothing and the ability to dine with a certain degree of regularity... Though the love of good sound never left my thoughts in day to day life over 30 plus years, the name Carver kind of faded into the past until recently when looking at amplifiers on ebay one day. I was just looking to find what my Adcom GFA-555 was worth and what should I come upon but a Carver m1.0t and boom!! An instantaneous flashback to the old amp challenge, the lawsuits, the reviewers in an uproar and our hero, the evil genius Bob, laughing his evil laugh. The amp companies CJ, Levinson et al saying if you're so great a designer why don't you build your own greatest amplifier and he does. Geez...great times ( have any of you seen the latest edition of The Absolute Sound? 3 pages of our hero's latest toys The Amazing Line Source and the Silver Seven 700- 25 tubes each 700 watts each in a lovely '49Mercury Burgundy). So as I regained my senses, I said to myself "Hey myself, I wonder what those Internets have to say about ole' Bob" and that's how I found you guys. Mkll !!?? Opt.002!!?? What's that all about? mmmmmore powwwerrr Tim the Tool man says,,,email..Hey Rich?? could ya put me down on the lissst?? No such luck, Oh, of course I bought a Carver m1.0t and not just any one, no no I had to buy the very one that Rich wrote about,,,you know the pretty one that works once and the next time I fired it up it starts off going bap bap bap bap bap like a 60 hz sine wave or somethin'. Of all the #%*@***! luck. Now mind you, by now I've found the forum and wandered around for a bit as a guest and am paying attention to your names as well as handles and kind of store them in the ole' coconut. I then went on to decide I wanted to get another amp, namely a TFM-45 for the tube sound and get it reworked. So I slide on over to ebay again(not learning my lesson) and see one in there but the owner is saying completely refurbished and that refurbished is the way to go. Some potential buyer asked who did the work and the owner said he had. Really? Who's this owner says I ....Nahash5150...hey, I know that name!! Well I struck up a conversation with Greg about the amp and alas it took me too long to turn the corner to buy it and I wrote him back telling him so saying "I guess if you lag you lose" and so it was. A couple of days go by and I go visit your site again and what do I find but everyone congratulating Greg on working with Rich on the MKll projects and I went back through ebay to do the same as I didn't know how else to get hold of him. I told him he sure kept a tight lip on it when we wrote earlier and said "hey, if you are going to do those mods could you put me down on your list?" I have to agree with all that you all have written of Greg, he is a class act. Super nice, knowledgeable and willing to help in all ways. And in all that I have been reading on here, so are all of you and I think I am going to enjoy being a member of this site very much. I have plenty of questions, probably too many. I'm computer illiterate, so much so that I haven't even figured out how to use the emoticons (I think that's what they're called) in this introduction. But I'm good with music and can bring that to the table at the very least. (Try James Taylor-Gaia-from his album Hourglass if you like bass from a tympani drum or Assembly of Dust-Speculator for a huge soundstage). Oh, did I forget to say what Greg's answer was? As I join this site, it will be in style as over the next few weeks he will be turning my m1.0t into an m1.0t Mkll Opt.002. I don't know for sure, but I'm feeling blessed. Well , I gotta go refill my umbrella drink and go for a swim. I look forward to conversating (as it's said down here) with ya. Kennett
