  1. The Raven hasn't listened to what those Fest speakers are capable of or the CRM2's, they are killer at ambient sounds. The powered DefTec's come pretty cheap and work well with your parameters of nature sounds and movies but music we tend to look else where. Since females hear high frequencies more than males the metal dome speakers might not be what you're after unless you would care to throw an equalizer in there or an in line resistor to tame them for the grundgy sound. Polks Monitor 10's and Monitor 7's with the silk dome tweeters are also worth checking out although they are wider but the 275 would power them to "Run upstairs, the monsters are breaking in!!" .
  2. Yes I have and they are very nice together and getting better. The 275 has been alternating powering my Fest speakers then my ALlll's and now a set of GoldenEar Triton 7's. The ALlll's run it out of gas pretty quick so low volume they sound very good. The Fest speakers can make the m500t mkll run out of gas but with the filter on and running the Sunfire Signature with them ......I will be going back and trying that again. The Triton 7's seem to be a very nice match with the tweeter that's in them. With the BillD c-1 set about 12:02 and my trusty RS spl meter I am reading an average of 98db with 104db and above popping up listening to O.A.R. live at Red Rocks. Set up for SH this is KILLER!!!
  3. What's my budget for this shopping excursion? Do you have a powered sub for the movie 's? How far forward in the room can the front plane of the speakers face sit?
  4. Hey look!! A squirrel!!! ? What was the question?
  5. +1 and mine is a battle axe right now....
  6. Yep....it's all trickery!
  7. Agreed Steve, every face I saw there was a new face,(there were a couple that were pretty hard to look at not mentioning any names like I promised Doug.. ?.) and all were smiling and enjoying their time together like long lost family. "Drinking a little wine, eatin' a little cheese" and working on a goal. David, maybe a thread for ideas in temporary absorption to take your room up a couple of notches on the cheap is in order. The look on your face when you heard it was great. And Steve....I copied your and "The" Ravens most excellent example. That was the day after Harry and Mark helped lead me through putting the first half of the amp together which was a class for me, thanks to you 2 I gained in soldering and reading schematics and your half of our build was right! Reading Robert's directions, looking at pictures and the next day going and looking at the example and copying it, WTH!!??? I built a working tube amplifier?!! I can hardly believe that Bob Carver was able to design something that Doug and I were able to build as complete novices. Dnspy007's first completed amp was playing when I walked in and was sounding sweet after Hashey stood back as he flipped the switch for the first time. First time people!!! So cool as Arnold says ah'll be bak and I hope all of you will too.

    KAPTON

I went to this site to check that and they are 8" and 10" But their info says the foil is attached to the Kaladex etc. Here it is : http://www.audioalchemy.ro/difuzoare/bgcorp/neo8pdr.pdf

I'm looking at this in CL thinking about how they would work in a 2way but what about the materials used for the ribbon? Kaladex? They're close for anybody that wants them. https://sarasota.craigslist.org/ele/d/nos-pair-planar-transducers/6672974085.html
  10. Just want to say that threads like this one introduce a lot of excellent and well recorded music to me. I have a subscription to Spotify and not all are available to me but most are. So this thread along with "What are you listening to" bring a great deal of music I have never heard, or have heard but forgotten and greatly appreciate being reminded of. If our last disc had been made of vinyl, it would sound like crap by now due to over usage. I will buy how ever many discs we come up with, just keep suggesting your best!
  11. One of my go to test songs: Bobby "Blue" Bland, Memphis Monday Morning. Album title song.
  12. This is SH Gold.
  13. With the Feds printing presses hard at work, that $700+ we plunk down for these fine pieces of electronics would have cost us $2044.00 in 1980 when the average median income was $16,700.00. Gosh should I be feeling wealthy or just happy I got what I wanted? It's a bargain from my OCCD world.
  14. Sooo you want better SQ and the same volume of 3 sets Mach 1's from one cabinet? /yetanotherforum/uploadfiles/20160915063329162.jpg Welcome to to the site!
  15. Great read! Thanks Z, it made me think along the lines of a 3D printer. It also caused my stress to rise because of this @&$*¢¥ OCCD...I want it NOW!!!!
  16. Welcome! You certainly jumped back in with 2 of the best pieces. Get them both upgraded after you've been here a while, unreal sound considering the cost. Hang on and one of the tech/ members will answer your questions. Pindrop
  17. Thanks Greg <- just a token of my appreciation. (hope you like it)
  18. That hole in the cello is probably a burn hole from a stray seed considering the year.
  19. JL Audio E112 http://www.jlaudio.com/home-audio-powered-subwoofers-e-sub
  20. I left 'em off and found you don't need them. Now I'm just sitting enjoying a great sounding set of speakers!!
  21. When putting the xlr back together at the top of tthe speaker post, that little aluminun ring that has a solder tang on it, does that have to be on there or since you're not soldering something to it can you just leave it off?
  22. It doesn't fit in either plate? If you try to open it up larger with a round file or drill bit be very careful you don't go too big becase there is only that little tiny lip on the xlr to hold it in place. I would go round file because it's aluminum and files easy, you'll have to use it on the back side(inside) the stand speaker post holes also to smooth them out as well.
  23. The stand has a pretty big opening at the top of it. This is the top plate for the stand. /yetanotherforum/uploadimg/20150923150927376.jpg I was blind but now I see, thanks Martin.
