  1. Welcome! Sounds like you've got some nice equipment. I love that Technics SP15. I had a pair of those in a recording studio I worked in for a number of years. Real pieces of technical art. Looking forward to some pictures!
  2. Yes, I'd say if the CT-16 and the TFM-42 are healthy, you should be very pleased with the sound from your Klipsch Quartets.
  3. Welcome! Sounds like you have a nice audio setup
  4. Nice find. I don't personally know of anyone in the Chicago area for repair work but hopefully someone else here will chime in. And if you don't want to sink the money into repair work right now, I'm sure you could move the C-16 and amp along as-is and let someone else make that investment.
  5. Welcome! You started off with a very nice assortment of Carver gear.
  6. Maybe the KEF Muon is for you...only $224,999 for the pair. I have bought a house for significantly less than that.
  7. ...and did you work the on MD80 series? Comfortable aircraft.
  8. Welcome! It sounds like you have some pretty nice equipment there. Looking forward to some pictures!
  9. Welcome! Lots of good pics throughout the site - enjoy!
  10. Welcome! As @Sk1Bum pointed out, both the amp and tuner can be serviced, but you may also wish to keep in mind that used TX-11s are quite inexpensive in working condition. So a quicker and potentially less expensive solution might be to pick up a replacement TX-11 from CL, FBM, or eBay. Yes, these wouldn't perform as well as a properly restored & serviced model, but depending upon how much FM you listen to, it might be a workable solution for you.
  11. Hello and welcome. Here's a link to guidelines and options for posting 'for sale' items here at TCS:
  12. Hello Lyn and welcome to the Carver Site. In my experience, both the C-4000 and C-1 can be excellent sonic performers, but of course this assumes properly restored, repaired, and functioning systems. The C-4000 does have a lot more control options as described throughout this thread which some users like whereas others prefer a simpler setup. I suppose a good question to ask is what are the factors that are leading you to consider the C-4000/4000t ?
  13. Welcome! I can tell you are having a lot of fun 😄
  14. Another flea market CD find - Jesus Just Left Chicago, by ZZ Top
  15. Shure made tons of cartridges and an old cross reference sheet I have says the ME103 was, in fact, an OEM model. The replacement stylus is the N14 which is a .4x.7 elliptical tracking at 1.5 - 3 grams. I can't speak to the merits of that particular stylus, but I'd balance it up and put on some music and see what you think. Shure made some excellent cartridge/stylus setups - and of course some not so great. And I'm sure the stylus could use a cleaning - Discwasher used to make a nice stylus cleaner kit which included some cleaning fluid (which I think was just 50/50 alcohol and distilled water). I can't recall the model of the cleaning kit but some google work would probably locate it. I'm sure there is a modern equivalent. BTW, Shure has a very good support site and even has some pictures explaining stylus wear. Good stuff.
  16. Great looking room - I bet that's a great location to spend a few hours!
  17. Welcome! One nice thing about the vintage Carver gear is that it's all serviceable and can perform as good as, or better, than new once restored.
