dcl 3,275 Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Charlie, I saw Blue Mitchell when he was on tour as a member of the John Mayall Group; this was in my college days; my elder brother at the same university accompanied me. I vividly recall him looking surprised at me when I shouted out "Yeah, Blue!" when he took his first solo. This would have been the Jazz Blues Fusion tour. Thanks for bringing it back. 1

You're quite welcome, DCL... I was digging around in my collection and Blue popped up in my search. Enjoy!

dcl 3,275 Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 "Music has no fixed place", says Manfred Eicher, to whom Sounds and Silence is dedicated. With his record label, ECM Records, Eicher has promoted modern music like few others. The film shows him at work, travelling the world, recording Arvo Pärt in Talinn, Nik Bärtsch in France, Angleopoulos composer Eleni Karaindrou in Athnes. Eicher always remains at the sidelines, yet appears to be the true centre of musical proceedings, focussing, listening, observing, unapproachable and, at times, a little demonic. He knows what he wants and gets it. A Sisyphian task. " -- Suddeutsche Zeitung. [Not having seen the film the CD was a welcome release.] 1
