How to edit pictures [pending]

How does one edit a pic so that they can draw on it before submission.  I see where some draw red lines or circles around schematics or pictures of circuit boards.

@danowood We don't have picture editing to that point on the posting editor. I can look into a plugin for it though.

 

On the other hand, I use the Windows Snippet Tool to write in little lines and stuff. It's easy to use because after you take a snippet and edit it, all you have to do is hit 'CTR + V' in the posting window and the site will automatically upload it for you.

Download GIMP2. It's free and has much of the editing capabilities of Photoshop.

I use Paint.net.  Another free Photoshop alternative.  

 

You can draw lines with arrowheads.  Easy to add text.

That's a very nice program that's not too hard to use; been using it for a least 15 years....

It is free and does a whole lot of stuff.

I'm not a fan of the plug-ins I've found. They are way too much for what we need - so I'll wait for something that is simpler to come along before modifying the site.

On a Mac, if you use Applications -> Preview -> Tools -> Annotate, you can add text, speech bubbles, arrows, rectangles, etc., on any document that Preview supports. This includes PNG, TIFF,  JPG (and it's variants), PDF.
