Sk1Bum 13,527 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 If you run across Alice Cooper's autobiography, Me, Alice, buy it without hesitation. There was only one printing that I'm aware of, and even a tattered copy can fetch $500 or more on ebay. An autographed copy with the jacket can fetch $3K or more. I have a perfect copy with the jacket (no autograph) that my brother bought for $3 at a used book store. 2 2

Not out of print, and easily and reasonably acquired, another couple of biographical books worth a look/read/listen (audiobook), is "The Real Frank Zappa" which covers a lot, including his much-overlooked and undervalued successful activism for free speech. And, "My Effin' Life by Geddy Lee. His story needs another volume as Rush regroups on it's current tour and new drummer. But the prior years are worth reading. Neil Peart's writings, of course, are legendary! 1
Community Admin AndrewJohn 11,503 Posted May 15 Author Community Admin Posted May 15 @Charlie, Love the Thorogood. When he pops on SiriusXM, these two always rock out, kick back, turn on the Carver and pour a bourbon, or two, neat. 2

Kurt 3,429 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I don't know why....but this song has always spoken to me. I was reminded of that when I picked up some new vinyl today... Speaking in Tongues. It's a very simple song, musically. Until today (when I actually decided to look up the lyrics and meaning), I'd always thought the song had some deep poetic meaning. It really doesn't. It's just a love song. But, it persists as one of the Talking Heads best ever. David Byrne still plays it as he tours. Sean Penn made a whole movie with the same title and the song included (and David Byrne is in the movie). I guess it spoke to a lot of people. 1 1

Charlie 20,023 Posted June 10 Posted June 10 This came across SiriusXM yesterday while I was heading to Cocoa Beach on SR 528 for a Bike Meet. It's awesome at 172 MPH+ (GPS was giving off crazy numbers after I hit the NOS) 1
Charlie 20,023 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Somehow this came up on WOCL FM 105.9 Deland FL yesterday evening. Gotta love terrible Ted...
Charlie 20,023 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 I found this on an oldies station that I never heard of; WMTX 100.7 (MIX 100.7 Tampa Florida) Love those oldies! 2
4krow 7,845 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 I don't doubt that it has been mentioned before, yet when played over a decent system Adagio for strings from Samual Barber's works can bring on tears. A lot of Pink Floyd recordings have strong effect on me as well. 2
Receiver2000 5,089 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 It's always a treat to be astounded with a recording isn't it. 2
Charlie 20,023 Posted August 1 Posted August 1 This showed up on SiriusXM this morning; haven't heard this in a long time... 1
