So I was back to square one and with using the 4.0 I upgraded to a certain level. The polk's didn't really hold up to the power that they were receiving. Kind of disappointing. They sound like they had a rev-limiter built in. Maybe it was the crossovers. Because the CV's handled the 4.0 with no issues at all. I still have 1 set of CV PA's left and they will handle 400 watts pretty well.

Looking to find some speakers that can really handle 500 watts per channel or more. Ideas please!!!  And I dont want to have to have a sub to get all the bass I want.

NHT 3.3s, if you can find them, and if you have the room for them.

I posted a link to some in WA in Found deals.  Included a center speaker. Is that the same ones?

Yup. I seen that in another topic I think someone posted the link. Wondering why they haven’t sold.

Infinity Kappa 7.1’s are good or no good?

They are a whole lot less sensitive than your Cerwin Vegas - 89db/W

The back to back 11V Zeners for peak elimination on the tweet was an interesting find (for me)

Thanks for the heads up. But aren’t those only rated at 200 watts? I really want something that handles at least 500 watts

Here is my formula:

Speakers capable of handling 500w/channel or more + 60 lbs/speaker = happiness. 😎

For your consideration-the Snell Type A-2's. They have subwoofer-like low bass and a healthy appetite for power, just as you specify. Big sound from big speakers with a wide SH soundstage and with their active bi-amping capability, will make your M-4.0t's work out. Terrific midrange, too.

I love my Snells...thanks for the post about them Kevin!

And you did that without getting algebraically and trigonometrically complicated......😂😂

Have you heard of VMPS?

No I haven't.

Oh Boy...this may be what you are looking for.

VMPS was a speaker company run by Brian Cheney. My two favorite heroes' in the audio field were Bob Carver and Cheney. I sort of thought of them similar as upstarts with new ideas that nobody thought could work, and then they proved them wrong.

Just like Bob proved he could make any amp sound like Conrad Johnson's that cost tens of thousands....Brian could make a speaker that had high efficiency, low distortion, bass response down to 20Hz (-3db), could play with low distortion over 118db (some models),

And yet sounded good enough to win multiple CES Best in Show Awards for sound quality.

Like Bob Carver did his TFM were he could make his amp sound like any other...Brian used to run a demo at the CES called "live or Recorded", were his goal was to try to get people to guess which blindfolded. (Admitidly, that was pretty tough, lol, but, that's what won him Best in Show)

I came into the thread pretty late, so I'm not sure if you found your speakers yet. If not, not sure what size may be two big, or what your budget is.

VMPS are highly regarded by the people that own them.  I've never owned them, but one of my closest friends and his wife owned a pair of Super Tower II's powered by 4 Carver cubes and later a pair of Adcom amps. It was the loudest home system I've ever heard.  Ozzy at high volume removed the ceiling fan from the ceiling.

6.5' tall and over 300lbs each.

I don't know if these are still for sale:
