cmmonte92 11 Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Hello All  I just Purchased a MXR-130 receiver and a Sunfire 300x2. The MXR will power a pair of Polk SDA-2Bs and then use it's pre-outs to the Sunfire, which will power another pair of Polk SRS SDA 3.1 TLs.  Looking forward to enjoying this setup for years to come. 😎  I already reached out to Nelion to get the Sunfire scheduled for an overhaul. I'm not sure about the MXR though... It's in pretty damn good condition. 9
Sk1Bum 10,732 Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Welcome cmmonte92! We're glad you're hear.   Both of those are popular pieces here, and the Polk SDAs are popular here too. Many will say that's an excellent combination. I have a set of Monitor 10 Series 2, and they sound amazing with Carver amps and pre's.  Nelion is an excellent choice for working on your Carver gear. Greg knows those amps, receivers, and pre's inside and out.    1

BobTFM35 2,489 Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 @cmmonte92Â Welcome to the site!! Â Nelion has done several pieces for us (Son and I) and I'm sure that it will be worth the wait to get that Sunfire restored. Â For the following I'm just curious, In the auction for the 130 did it happen to mention "BEY645" either in the title or on the back of the unit? Also, did it have a solid face plate with rack handles? Â Can't wait to see pictures of your gear. Â Again, Welcome!! 1

Although, it was listed as a Carver Receiver "BEY645," and has a solid faceplate with rack handles.  Those are some oddly specific, but spot-on details to get correct. Are these things common or did you know the person selling this 130?  I tried to upload a pic from my phone, but am having a hard time getting it to be under 1MB. I'll have to resize it on my PC to post it.  Also, thank you to everyone for the welcome!   2
BobTFM35 2,489 Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 @cmmonte92Â I did not know the seller or even see the FBMP ad, it was just a pure guess. Â This thread: a short while back, was on the MXR family and within it trying to find the difference between the units in the family. You can read it and draw your own conclusions as too what constitutes a 130 and/or 150, and what you purchased. Â Â
