Hello All,

Glad to have stumbled upon this group while searching for info on my Carver HR-722, which powers up but won't let me select an input. Have owned it since the mid-eighties and it has given me a lot of years of great service. Looking forward to reading through the threads here and reacquainting myself with Carver equipment. My youngest son just graduated with an AS in Audio Engineering and looking forward to passing it on to him. Thanks for adding me in!

Welcome to the site. Here is a page of the manual in case you don’t have a manual. They are in our database section. Do you have the remote?

Very cool ... I spent my time with the EC130 Compass Call Program, under TAC back then. Turboprop mechanic, but never had a chance to work on the OV-10.

@BigC3103 Excellent, a C-130 Brother!

My PAFSC was 43151F Acft Maint Specl.  Our Aircraft had permanent rooms integrated into the cargo bay with a galley and an actual flushable toilet, not the standard "Honey Bucket". We were stationed at Yakota AB Japan, Kadena Okinawa, and Udorn Thailand. Some of the other Aircraft had a configuration that was outfitted for the ABCCC missions over the battlefield to coordinate Air Support from Carrier and land-based assets in support of the troops on the ground.

Spent time during those missions in all three front row seats when either the pilot, co pilot, or flight engineer took an extended break. Could not believe when the pilot one time said "We are coming up on a turn, want to take control?" Adjusted the Autopilot controls until we came to the new heading. So, I got to control a C-130 while in flight.

The OV-10 portion was out of Eglin AFB on a support TDY from Langley AFB.

It sounds like the Compass Call aircraft (EC-130H) were a later variant of our C-130B-II.

So, it looks like we were both part of the C-130's history in electronic warfare.

C-130's and Carver Equipment, great combination!!

I was at a local Texas AFB installing some Comm equipment back in the last 80's. The base had a flight simulator. Lets just say that I am glad I did not take the reigns of a C-130 as you did. My simulated aircraft bounced off the runway and ascended into oblivion! 🙂

Ya, mine was 42653 and though I spent many hours running engines on the ground, never did have the opportunity to take the reins in flight. Being a new unit and a special project for TAC, flight crews were a bit nervous and held to protocol. We used to joke that with all of our ground run experience we could get one in the air, but landing it in one piece, might present a bit of a challenge .... LOL

Our primary mission then was communication jamming and enemy communication disarray, flying with a number of linguists onboard. The backend was one big room of computers & consoles, specialists who spoke Russian, Chinese, Arabic, French, etc.  The capabilities were pretty incredible.

Agreed - Herks and Carver!
