I need a subwoofer that will work well with the Purdy Creations (Sunfire CRM-2) speakers I have.  My Polk pw111 sux.  Went over to Best Buy yesterday and brought home a Klipsch SW-350.  Not pleased at all with the sound, and the darn thing is made in China!!!!  Sounds about the same to me as the Polk 111, boomy and not that solid base I'm looking for.  That Klipsch is going back to BB today!  Been thinking about the Sunfire True Subwoofers.  They are costly, and before I make a decision need some input from anyone who might have one.  Of course, as usual, I'm drawn the the most expensive model, the TS EQ12 Sig.  TIA for any advise.

Can't help with the Sunfire but REL makes really nice subs.

That's where I'd steer you to.

I've had personal experience with about 16 different subs, and 2 stick out (the 2 I currently use!)

First is the Velodyne DD12 - it is pricey, but comes with a VERY nice mic, and the room eq software is second to none (8 band parametric eq, 6 presets, remote, etc..)

The second is the Klipsch RSW 10D - the "D" is critical, as they also make a RSW 10... The 10d has PRODIGOUS output, and goes DEEP.

I have the Signature Series 12" sub "non EQ version" couldn't be more happy with Sunfire on this one.

Doug, have you thought of going the DIY route?
Subs are the easiest to build and finish.
There are so many great designs that can get you
high end for low dollars.

Doug:

2 words: DIY Sonotube.  You can get VERY GOOD sound quality for a low cost.  Plus Sonotube's are easy to build lol.

Otherwise I would suggest looking at some SVS subs, I am partial to the cylinder ones cause they are just cool looking to me.

Doug...I have used the Sunfire True, MKII, and Super jr. all with the crm 2's. They will all work just fine if you dial them in correctly.

I have the Super Jr. Initially I brought home the Sunfire True and found it awesome, perhaps more than I needed (that sounds bizarre d'oh!) for the room and returned it for the Jr. and saved some bucks. The Jr plus ALS Silvers is a good combination. Diagonal corner placement sounds best and I am tinkering with the optimum X-over freq. setting and volume level. AT very loud levels the Jr. vibrates audibly on the wood floor, the wood not being level across some spans. The last nudge in position cured that. Also, at very loud levels of Pink Floyd the Jr. will distort whilst the ALSs are still clean; did not expect that but I do not go there other than curiosity.  99.99% of the time, even with deep organ pedal notes, the Jr. is just fine.
