Some morning piano. Lola Astanova, Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy. I had to listen to it twice. The second time I had my glasses on, and it sounded much better.

I had the 2.5i's for a while and while they sounded great in my large living room, my wife didn't want them in that room so I moved them upstairs into my small listening room where I found them to have too much bass for the small space so got some Harbeths that are much better suited for that room. My 2.5i's had the dual binding posts. Really great speakers. -

Thanks for your comments. However, although I don't know the full history of my 2.5s, it seems highly unlikely that anyone in Argentina would have undertaken such a complex upgrade. Because it involves modifying the crossover as well. I think it was more likely a hybrid pair, released just days before the 2.5i, which already came with a double binding post, came out. It must be said that both tweeters sound identical. But they have traces of dried ferrofluid, as can be seen in the photos. That said, they still sound very good. -

Your 2.5 speakers are interesting, Fernando. The original 2.5 did not have dual binding posts - that was one of the “upgrades” in the 2.5i. It would appear that someone did an “aftermarket” dual binding post mod - the different spacing of the upper and lower posts seems to be further evidence of this. Point being, before you go replacing ferrofluid, it may be worth checking that whomever did the modification wired everything correctly.
