Of that series of receiver, the HR-752 is my favorite. I'd get it professionally restored. And, of course..., we LOVE pictures of gear, speakers, etc. Welcome to The Carver Site ! -
Welcome @ssurfer, glad you found us. TFM-35 is a super amp, and totally worth refreshing back to it's original glory. Heed the advice above on where/how to get it done.

Hello Granitetop and welcome to the carversite.com. Glad you found us. Thank you for your service! My first CD player was a Yamaha CD X-1, and I may still have it in the attic. I did some housecleaning this spring, and I don't recall tossing it, but I may have. It gave me several years of service.

Hello ssurfer and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. Absolutely your TFM-35 is worth repairing. Nelion Audio is a great choice for the repair. I know that first hand. All the work that Nelion has done for me is exceptional.

A problem in both channels simultaneously really cuts out a lot of potential issues, and pretty much points straight at the power supply, where an old cap that is failing can cause this . . .

Welcome to the forum. My first thought would be a dirty input level potentiometer. You could try spraying the pot with some fader lube and rotating the input level knob several times. See if that gets rid of the static.

Welcome! I'd definitely consider it worth repairing. Two good service options for Carver gear include Nelion Audio as @Half Life mentioned (https://nelionaudio.com) and Carver Audio Repair (https://carveraudiorepair.com). Both of these shops are very well versed in Carver & Sunfire gear. And while they are at it, they can give you a long-term fix for the lights, too!
