  1. I always felt Pink Floyd "Animals" was a great record but had a muddy mix...that's why what some of you are doing to the C-1 as well as the C-4000 is so important...those old less than perfect master recordings need quality tone control to have a chance at sounding great again...
  2. Yep!...That's a good one. Melody Gardot, Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, Allman Brothers, Jean-luc Ponty and a lot more...Let's hear from more of you on special recordings...
  3. A few years back, i took an evening electronics class at the local technical institute NAIT. It was heavy on solder skills and i just wanted to learn simple point to point soldering. As it turned out, everything was done under stereo microscopes. Resistors the size of pin points. If you sneezed, you'd never find them again...That was the best course i ever took. I'm not afraid to tackle any sort of solder job. I just wish i understood electronics better. I have very basic schematic reading skills and i'm working at getting better at understanding chain of events and mapping. Good luck with the soldering. Keep us posted...
  4. In the beginning there was nothing and God said `Let there be light`, and there was still nothing but everybody could see it. Dave Thomas, Good Ole' Canadian boy...
  5. Wow!...I'd love to hear these in a two channel set-up. They are mirrored sets. Tweeters inside or outside. You can play around with them but, not just any pair...You need a left and right pair.
  6. Yep!...Firewire to a TC Impact Twin and a pair of M-Audio BX8a's..Very impressive! I've been a fan of hers since Mister Heartbreak...
  7. I was in Denver a few years ago for RMAF. There was a booth set up by KUVO Jazz. It was a great stream and sounded unbelievable with the gear they had set up. Two weeks ago i tuned into their Latin Jazz Soul Party and was blown away by this program, Friday night at 8;00 pm...check it out... http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/kuvo/guide.guidemain
  8. Welcome to the forum Brother...There are a number of members with scary vinyl collections...enjoy.

  10. I'll take pics and keep you posted Brother!...
  11. What a busy week. Tomorrow will be eleven straight days of work. Back in the old days we would do twenty four...During this past week, my Mach 2 arrived. That's what i'm calling it from here on in. I bought a M1.0t from him and it is a most amazing piece indeed as many of you know. I purchased another near mint M1.0t and sent it off and it arrived back safe and SOUND......A true work of art...Let the Mono Blocking begin...These two will go down for a test spin at my local High End joint for a test ogle and i can't wait...anyone that's heard these are absolutely Gobsmacked...
  12. Wow!...Rod's Miles Davis Karma arrived earlier this week and surprise, surprise, surprise. Not only is it a great box set, he added three Italian Jazz pressings of some sweet stuff...all in pristine condition of course. Rod, thank you very much for a monster Karma...I'll keep it going...
  13. Same here Robert...and Yes!... Welcome to you Harvanator...looks like tubes to me...
  14. I have a ORB record flattener...If any of you guy's have a problem...get a hold of me.
  15. Welcome Brotha'...Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...
  16. I use this as well as three Tube Box 11's This is where a couple of Telefunken 12ax7's are swapped in...
  17. OMG!...What a great site.I still have a lot of Zappa on early vinyl. I'd buy anything newly remastered by the right people...Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray come to mind first and foremost. I'd prefer 180 gram over 200 and 45 rpm similar to Music Matters Blue Note Re-issues...http://www.musicmattersjazz.com/index2.html
  18. While i'm on the subject, an absolute must reference record or CD to hear is Fun Lovin' Criminals 100 % Colombian. It's like listening to a Quentin Tarantino movie...a brilliant album by a very hip, clever band. They are are one of the tightest trio's around...
  19. GOOD one...hard to find! Well it's a two year old post but, what the heck...I struggled to find Apostrophe also. I found it on a Ryko compilation single cd with Overnite Sensation. 1986...#RCD 40025 and it's a great recording as is most of RYKO's stuff...
  20. Hey Jason...I think Dennis did a pretty good job in his post...Welcome to this great little gig...
  21. Welcome to the site Mark, i'm also hooked on the M1.0t...great amp.
  22. Did you mean to say sold in all 5 formats? Only a garage band would record themselves on 8-track or cassette. Yes...as soon as i wrote that i knew it didn't look right. Of course they would have recorded a master tape in those days and then released the work in those formats. My niece tells me there are bands that have recorded entire digital Masters driving around in a Volkswagen van. It probably sounds like it...
  23. I know Pink Floyd has, Frank Zappa, too? Well there has to be more than these guy's...I was told Phil Collins...when you throw in Floyd and Zappa, there's gotta' be more!
