  1. I posted the Legacy Audio Focus speakers up for trade for a Sansui G-9700 receiver and some cash. We'll see what happens and see if I get any action on them... . The Sansui must be in Excellent condition. Plus they must be within a few hours of Tucson since they weigh a shitload.... but I'd drive a couple hours to meet them.
  2. If I have to move them 4 feet out, they'll have to go all the way to somebody else's house.
  3. My Epicure 3.0 I built. Huw has the plans on his site.
  4. No problem, Hijack Away.... It's all related AJ I picked up my first set of Epicure 20 + speakers at the PX in Germany in 1980 and have been through many sets over the last Umpteen years. I carried them back to the barracks 2 miles one at a time on my shoulder and before I left Germany and headed back to Minnesota, I packed them full of hash and I was quite popular (and stoned) for the summer of 1981. Can't do that no more but..... I restored a set not very long ago and did the cabinets in Rosewood (they were only available in Walnut), and they turned out EXCELLENT. I have used Huw at Human Speakers many times over the years but he started getting slow to get my stuff back to me so I buy woofs and tweeters when I see them and always have parts on hand to do a set or two including crossovers. He changes the looks of the tweeters with this bird cage looking thing over the inverted portion and they sound good but they don't look right. And I always watch for the original Blue Cone woofers. I now send them back home to Minnesota to Midwest Speaker Repair and they use the good Butyl Rubber surrounds and I had them rebuild the spyders, new voice coils and dust covers. They sound excellent. I drive them with the WOPL but you have to be careful since they only handle 100-125 watts. If you think they were bottoming out too quick, these speakers are real quirky and require them to be SUPER AIR TIGHT. If you have an air leak, the "Reflex" of the speaker drops off quick if they are not sealed. I make new gaskets and when restoring, I use plenty of sealer and paint to get the gasket surfaces smooth so they are easier to seal. Old original gaskets are trash. I bought a set of replacement woofers about a year or so ago from a dude on the Bay and they suck terrible. I threw them in the dumpster and shopped for some blue cone woofs which I found. I told the dude that his crappy replacements were made from recycled Pabst Blue Ribbon and Hamms beer cans and they weren't worth the $10 shipping. As soon as the frame touched the wood, the voice coils started binding and it sounded like somebody was sitting in a 55 gallon drum jamming. I have some of Human Speakers replacements too. The tweeters are great but the woofs are not as good. And, they don't look right to the Epicure fans. Here is a pic of his "Bird Cage" Tweets.... and the x-overs he rebuilt (and I requested he keep the tweeter switch functional. I'll do the next set myself Here is also a pic of a set of 20+'s I restored not all that long ago. If I don't sell the set I just spent a gob of money on, I will re-veneer them in Mahogany and keep them since they look pretty sweet. One of my Blue Cones has a scuff so I found another set, just need to send them to MN and get the Full Monty. I'll have to tell you about building a set of Epicure 3.0 from scratch (https://www.humanspeakers.com/e/epicure-3.0.htm#top). Way cool Perry
  5. Been sleeping for like 18 hours, had bed sores so I got up. The root canal kicked my ass (did you know the molars have 3 roots??) they should call it "ROOT'S CANAL" Plus he relieved me of $1000 for his hard work. I broke a molar, and cracked a filling in the tooth next to it. The wife brought me a "Cake" in jail and I guess I should have checked it for a file They let me out early for stupid behavior.... Anyway, I brought the Speakers into the house about 11:00 tonight and have been cranking up some tunes I use when I build amps to see how they measured up to my other speakers. I need to work on placement and setting the switches to ease up on the bass. 3 big woofers each are VERY ACTIVE. I have never even owned a sub woofer in my life so the heavy bass was crazy. My buddy came over to help move them and he LOVED the thumpin.... I got the manual so I guess I should read it. The WOPL with 500WPC played well with them. The wife hates the color and she asked about me painting them. When I walked into the living room with a can of black spray paint, she decided to change the subject. I sold my CornScala's several months back and I'm not sure the Legacy's sound better but I have to give them a chance and work with placement and settings of the crossover switches. And I just spent all that money on modifying my Heresy's and had the woofers rebuilt in my Epicure 20+ Cool
  6. It was one of the popular sites where they all put "SCROE" instead of Score.... Gettin old...
  7. It's all good. Thanks
  8. Dang, can't even misspell anything anymore.... Smart software. It still was a NICE SCROE!!!!
  9. I just scored a beautiful set of Legacy Audio "Focus" Speakers. Anybody have any experience with these? I don't know if my Living Room is big enough for them but I plan on bringing them into the house in the next couple days and take them for a test drive with my WOPL and Acurus RL-11 pre. The White Wash Oak finish on the speakers is different... Rare?? I have never seen a set. Pardon the crappy pic, it took 3 of us to unload them, BIG AND HEAVY! I also picked up a Krell KSA-250 Amp and the Krell Audio Video Standard Pre/Processor but these will go up for sale as soon as I finish the amp.
  10. Do the White Oak Audio upgrades to your amps with the DC Protection board and you won't need the fuses.
  11. I'm south of you just outside of Sierra Vista, let me know if you need some help. Welcome aboard. Perry
  12. When I sit down to "Listen", I prefer my analog (Albums) because of the sound. When I'm working, which is usually always, I go with the IPOD since I don't have to drop what I'm doing to switch. I don't even own a CD player but have a pile of CD's. Somebody gave me a NICE Sony Reel to Reel... What the hell should I do with that behemoth???
