  4. Hello n3rd and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us! This is a great place to continue your audio education. There are several very talented techs, engineers, and hobbyists here, and I learn something almost every time I log in.
  5. Hello LSD and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. I started my Carver journey with an M400t, and I've since owned 6 of them. Innovative design, but a bugger to work on (so I've been told).
  6. While not a movie, this Netflix series had me laughing all the way through. Being an Arnold fan helps... It's theme is similar to True Lies, but with an (admittedly) predictable twist.
  7. Weather Report, Mysterious Traveller (album)
  8. Bob Baldwin, Brazil Chill (album)
  9. Hi Bruce and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. I have a 4000t in my main 2 channel system. It's awesome. I have a TX11a on a shelf, but I use a TX11b in that same system as the 4000t. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
  10. Hey Mark, the glowing praise that you and several others lathered on NHT 2.5, 2.5i, and 2.9's is what got my attention. When an almost perfect pair of 3.3's popped up less than 3 hours away from me, I had to go give them a listen. I told the seller that I wanted to give them a listen first, and he said fine, but I'd have to bring my own amp, pre, and source. I took either a C-1 or C-11 (Ci-1 I think), an M1.0t, and an oppo 103 along with Dark Side of the Moon, Brothers in Arms, and a couple of other cds. The seller had the speakers set up facing the garage door, and at least 15 feet from either side wall. We hooked up the gear that I brought, powered it up, and put Dark Side of the Moon in the oppo. I hit the play button, and we sat in a couple of kitchen chairs about 15 feet in front of the speakers. I was absolutely floored by the sound stage, the accuracy of the music, and the bass without a sub. The look on the seller's face was almost like one of his children was moving out. I then got up, walked over to the pre, and hit the SH button. I turned around to walk back to the chair, and the seller was looking from side to side. I grinned knowing what he was hearing. I got back to my seat, and noticed that not only had the sound stage widened, it also had depth. These speakers, the placement, the source material, and Sonic Holography was magical together. We listened to a couple of more songs, and I got up to change CDs. Once I turned the volume down, the seller said, "I'm not so sure that I want to sell them now." I must have shown on my face what I was thinking, because he followed that up very quickly with, "Just kidding, I offered, and I'm pretty sure that you're taking them home." I thought, "one way or another," but I said, "Yes, I believe I am." These speakers are fantastic, and I may be using them in a less than perfect situation. I can improve that when I get an NHT M7 center. The Klipsch center that I'm currently using doesn't blend as well with the NHTs as I'd like, and it was the same with the Amazing Platinum ribbons. The SVS SB3000 pair works well with the NHTs. I just need to find an M7 at a good price. NHT still offers them, but I've read the wait is several weeks. There was a seller on ebay that was selling NIB at $200 under NHTs price. Of course they're gone now. He claimed he stocked up when NHT first offered them at a promo price.
  11. The Rippingtons, Soul Riders from the Fountain of Youth album. Several songs on that album feature the bass player, but this on stands out for me. Now I just need to follow Ponce De La Kool Kat and find that fountain of youth. Dammit, why is youth wasted on the young?
  12. Thievery Corporation, The Temple of I and I (album)
  13. Hi Rick, and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. I can only second what the previous responders have said. Your budget and risk tolerance is your best guide. Demoing the unit is a big plus if that's possible, shipping, and restoration/upgrade costs all come into play.
  14. Hello Mr T and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. The TFM series of amps are popular here. Hopefully someone can help you out with your questions.
  15. Hello Doug and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. My first Carver piece was an M400t. I loved it so much that I bought another (and another, and another, and another, and another). There are a few threads here about the M400 amps, and I hope you find what you need.
  16. Hello Shelby, and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. The M200t is a great amp, and it's what I have powering my backyard setup. The one I have is tough as nails too. It's in a building that's neither heated or cooled with a lot of dust. That amp runs 24/7 from early spring to late summer. If I don't have that system running, the sparrows build nests on top of the speakers. My amp does exactly what you describe, and it has for several years now. One of these days, probably when it fails, I'll send it in to get it refreshed, refurbed, and upgraded.
  17. Son Seals, Bad Axe (album)
  18. Khruangbin, A Calf Born In Winter (EP)
  19. Hello Adam, and welcome aboard. Glad you found us. Nice amps, both are popular here! Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your gear. We all like pics of all kinds of audio and home theater gear.
  20. Hello Eric, and welcome aboard. Glad you found us. What brings you to us?
  21. Mark Wibberley, Sahel Notes (album)
  22. Hello cchoate and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. Both of your pieces are popular here, and we all love pictures. Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area.
  23. The MFSL release of Touch is very well done. I listen to it often.
  24. John Klemmer, Chateau Love was released on April 26, 2024. "It's a big deal when an influential jazzman who launched his recording career in the 1960s records and relases a new record. Last week (April 26) the new album by contemorary jazz saxophone innovater John Klemmer, "Chateau Love," was released by Touch Records USA/BFD/Orchard. Klemmer composed and produced a dozen new tracks for the intimate and soothing collection that generously clocks in at more than an hour of music." You can read the rest of the review here...
