Hello Moz, and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. I'll be the first of probably several to recommend: Carver 4000t or C4000 Carver C-1 or C-11 Carver C-19 I have a 4000t modified by one of our members, @Bonzoro, and it is awesome! I have a C-1 with the BillD modifications done by one of our members, @Daddyjt, and it is equally as awesome! I have a C-11 that hasn't been modified, and it is very good. I don't have a C-19, but it's on my wish list. All of these will fit in your stated budget with quite a bit of change left over. The mods will put the 4000t and C-1/C-11 on an equal playing field with preamps cost at least 3x the price. I hope that helps, and again, welcome aboard. -

Hello Jim3 and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. That amp and pre are both nice units, and they're popular here. If you want to do the refresh/mods yourself, then I would start by searching here: https://thecarversite.com/forum/63-preamp-repair/ https://thecarversite.com/forum/69-preamp-mods/ and here: https://thecarversite.com/forum/57-m-15t-repair/ https://thecarversite.com/forum/70-amp-mods/ I hope those links can get you started. -
Not quite new, but an overdue introduction.

Richard Elliot, Straight Up Down was released on September 6, 2024. "Richard Elliot is an icon of smooth jazz. His soulful playing and catchy melodies have made him a beloved figure in the genre. He has rightly placed himself as a tenor saxophonist on the same level as the legends Johnny Griffin, Gene Ammons, Coleman Hawkins, Grover Washington Jr. and Michael Brecker, all of whom have influenced him. His new album Straight Up Down (2024) is another building block in cementing this reputation. The album was produced and mixed by Paul Brown, Euge Groove and Kevin Flournoy. Richard Elliot was accompanied by the studio musicians listed in the credits. An elaborate production with numerous musicians. Apart from one cover, the songs were written by the musicians involved." Hi Chris and welcome aboard. Glad you're here. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, and I'll second the Nelion Audion recommendation. Greg is one of, if not the best with Carver Audio products.

Boney James, Slow Burn was released on October 18, 2024. "Garlanded smooth sax maestro, BONEY JAMES has just released this new album – his 19th as leader. His coterie of dedicated fans will be delighted with the ten tracker as too will anyone who appreciates classy, melodic smooth jazz with a soulful undertow."
