  1. That's cool. I recently started using a pair of 60" ribbons salvaged from a pair of Carver Amazing Platinum's. I used a Y connector to the M1.0t mkII opt002 amp, and then just connected one ribbon to left and and one to the right channels. It's a great improvement over the Klipsch RC 3 I've been using for at least 20 years.
  2. Hi Geoff and welcome aboard. I wish I could comment about the TFM amps, but I've never owned or even heard one in use. Many here have though, and hopefully someone with experience with these amps can chime in. Once you get to Novice status, please consider posting some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of audio and home theater gear.
  3. Good instructions Glenn, thank you. @Woodsman8 , if you post in the wrong area, site staff can always move it. It happens.
  4. You've reached Novice status, so you're good to go on the pics.

  6. Four80East, Gonna Be Alright (album)
  7. It is, and it was released today. "It’s something of a family affair – Gilmour’s wife Polly Samson writes most of the lyrics, son Charlie contributes words to Scattered, and daughter Romany sings on Between Two Points – and its songs are long stewed in discussions chez Gilmour around the pandemic and matters beyond. " You can read the rest of the review here...
  8. Hi Nick, and welcome aboard. I use an M500t mkII to power a pair of Martin Logan ESL's. The ESL's dip to as low as 4 ohm, but the nominal load is 6. I rarely turn the volume up over halfway, as my system is in a small room. The M500t is my favorite Carver amp, but I've only owned 4 different Carver amps and no tube amps. One thing to watch for with the M500t in stock form is heat. It will warm up quite a bit with high volume and low impedance. Before mine was upgraded, it shut down a couple of times. I've not had it do that since, but the upgrade bumped the output to 495w/channel.
  9. The Braxton Brothers, Higher (album)
  10. Hello Alpha_Metal, and welcome to thecarversite.com While I'm no tech by any stretch of the imagination, you might try Mouser, Digikey, or maybe @Circuits & Concepts. Circuits & Concepts has an ebay store and he sells a lot of Carver parts. He might have the pot you're looking for, or know a suitable replacement. Les is also a member here. I hope that helps.
  11. You're now good to go. I look forward to seeing the pics.
  12. Hello w33rd0h and welcome to thecarversite.com. @sea is the goto guy for Carver ribbons. Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your system in the Member's Systems area. We all love pics of all kinds of gear.
  13. Hi Andy. I wish I had answers, but I'm not familiar with Carver receivers, and I am not a tech by any stretch of the imagination. That said, I would probably pull the cover, take a look inside searching for swollen caps, browned or blackened spots on the board(s), or bad connections. It appears that your amp has gone into protection, and something will need to be fixed or replaced to get it out of protection. What that might be I have no idea, unless there is something obvious once the cover is off. We have the owners manual available for download here: https://thecarversite.com/manuals/mandir/Carver HTR-885.1 Home Theater Receiver Owners Manual.pdf We don't have the service manual though. Sorry I can't be of more help, but maybe someone who's more familiar with this piece will chime in. Welcome!
  14. I still can't get enough... Chet Baker Quartet featuring Russ Freeman

  16. Welcome Clarence. It's good to have you here. I have no experience with any of the gear you mentioned, but I'm sure someone does. Hopefully, they'll chime in. The only thing that really matters though is how it sounds to you. If you're happy with it, that's what matters. If you're not, most of us will be glad to help you spend your money. Either way, welcome! I'm glad you found us.
  17. Hi Ron and welcome to thecarversite.com. I found a few with this google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=RH-88+remote&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#ip=1 Here are three that look promising, but caveat emptor... VCARVER RH88 RH88 Ready-to-Use Redi Remote (Disclaimer: I have never done business with these folks.) https://www.remotes.com/carver-p/carver rtrh88.htm Ebay listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/325750734469 Picclic listing: https://picclick.com/Carver-RH-88-Genuine-OEM-Audio-Original-Remote-Control-145340799114.html I hope that helps, or at least gets you started in the right direction.
