For those of you who have asked about the possibility of a demo or "traveling" LP-1R preamp with remote...we now have one available for anyone who wants to try one out! I need to start a list of those who are interested in auditioning one of them in their own home environment. You will need to pay only shipping to you from either us or the last person who tries it and you will be allowed to try out the unit with your own equipment for a week (unless prior arrangements are made) at which point it will need to be repacked in it's shipping box and sent to the next person on the list... or if there is none, back to us. If you are interested please add you name in this post so that we can get an idea of how many might be interested. The unit will be our standard LP-1R with IR remote included. The remote itself is a simple one....on-off and volume. The remote will work at extreme angles...almost a full 90 degrees to either side or up down to the unit. Please reply to the thread below if you are interested and we will begin to make a list.

The tape masters for Billie Holiday’s Decca catalog were most likely lost in total. The Decca masters also included recordings by such greats as Louis Jordan and His Tympany Five and Patsy Cline. The fire most likely claimed most of Chuck Berry’s Chess masters and multitrack masters, a body of work that constitutes Berry’s greatest recordings. The destroyed Chess masters encompassed nearly everything else recorded for the label and its subsidiaries, including most of the Chess output of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon, Bo Diddley, Etta James, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy and Little Walter. Also very likely lost were master tapes of the first commercially released material by Aretha Franklin, recorded when she was a young teenager performing in the church services of her father, the Rev. C.L. Franklin, who made dozens of albums for Chess and its sublabels. Virtually all of Buddy Holly’s masters were lost in the fire. Most of John Coltrane’s Impulse masters were lost, as were masters for treasured Impulse releases by Ellington, Count Basie, Coleman Hawkins, Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Alice Coltrane, Sun Ra, Albert Ayler, Pharoah Sanders and other jazz greats. Also apparently destroyed were the masters for dozens of canonical hit singles, including Bill Haley and His Comets’ “Rock Around the Clock,” Jackie Brenston and His Delta Cats’ “Rocket 88,” Bo Diddley’s “Bo Diddley/I’m A Man,” Etta James’s “At Last,” the Kingsmen’s “Louie Louie” and the Impressions’ “People Get Ready.” The list of destroyed single and album masters takes in titles by dozens of legendary artists, a genre-spanning who’s who of 20th- and 21st-century popular music. It includes recordings by Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway, the Andrews Sisters, the Ink Spots, the Mills Brothers, Lionel Hampton, Ray Charles, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Clara Ward, Sammy Davis Jr., Les Paul, Fats Domino, Big Mama Thornton, Burl Ives, the Weavers, Kitty Wells, Ernest Tubb, Lefty Frizzell, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Bobby (Blue) Bland, B.B. Due to unforseen circumstances the kit build for CarverFest 2019 will not take place. For details on the loaner demo LP-1 with remote please see this post Since there is not a kit build being planned for CarverFest 2019, fxbill and I have been discussing offering a kit of our Ten Octave Audio LP-1 tube preamplifier at the CarverFest in September if there is enough interest. We can put together a kit of the standard LP-1 that should be built with basic soldering and mechanical skills in less than 2 days. We would provide the silk-screened steel chassis, silk-screened anodized aluminum faceplate, pcb, top grade tubes, hardware(screws/nuts/washers), electronic components, switches, controls, solder, all other parts needed, a shipping box, and instructions. We would also be on site for 3 days to provide build assistance. The price of the basic LP-1 kit (available for CarverFest only) would be $699.99. (Retail is $999.99.) We are not selling kits except for Carverfest. We may be able to also offer an LP-1R kit which would include a remote control (power and volume control.) We have a working prototype of the LP-1 with remote but we can't guarantee the availability of the remote kit for CarverFest yet. If we can make it available the price for the LP-1 remote kit will be $799.99. (Retail will be $1,199.99.) We would need 50% of price prepaid by July 10 and balance due by August 15, in order to get all parts ordered, assembled into kits, and delivered on time to CarverFest.
