  1. We watched and enjoyed it a couple months ago. It didn't show white men as weak, stupid villains and women as the saviors of humanity. That's enough to set off the Holly weird biased critics. For comparison look at how the male heroes of the show Seal Team are irrationally treated by the writers as confused, irresponsible morons while their female characters are mistreated victims, unappreciated geniuses.
  2. Hi, Don, I had no replies in 2 weeks, so I decided there wasn't enough interest to invest the time required for the project. At this point there isn't time to put such a project together for a premium quality result. Sourcing the cases, controls, inputs/outputs,wiring, etc and building/testing a prototype is a significant undertaking (and we needed to order enough units to keep the costs per unit down.)

  4. Is there any discussion of a DIY project for this year's Carver Fest? If anyone has an interest, I was thinking about a Class D monoblock amp project using Hypex NCore NC500 (500w/ch into 4 ohms, 370w/ch into 8 ohms) or Hypex NC250 (250w/ch into 4 ohms, 130w/ch into 8 ohms) modules. Amps using those modules have received good reviews and I have one that I think sounds good. They are more detailed (less tubey sounding) compared to Carver solid state transfer mod amps. These modules have power transformers built in and that somewhat simplifies the build. Hypex offers a kit using a slightly different module (500w/ch iinto 4 ohms) for 600 euros per channel. I think we could do it for around $400-$500/channel with enough participation. The cases would be of Chinese manufacture to keep costs down. These Hypex modules prefer XLR inputs, btw. (Hypex is raising prices at the end of June, so we could save some on that part if enough people commit to do this.) It's just an idea though. I'm not trying to push anyone into this at all.

  6. Thanks for posting that link. I have read Amir's reviews for some other audio gear and they have been reliably accurate for the reviews I have read. One thing that I have concluded from the methods Amir uses (and the results of the tests) is that there is a lot of discussion about how much difference there is between the results of the tests. There is very little mention that the audible difference is negligible (or nil for many people) between a SINAD (at 5 watts 4 ohms) of 113 (best of all gear tested) and SINAD of 78 which the site calls "FAIR." While accurate, this difference should not have much relevance when an audio enthusiast is comparing gear and making a purchasing decision. The test result is as misleading as the specs claimed by many manufacturers trying to make sales to people who have little or no opportunity to hear the gear and make a relevant comparison. Getting relevant data on audio gear is nearly as difficult as knowing who was responsible for killing JFK. This Carver site is a notable exception and the administrators and contributors here have my gratitude.
  7. Excellent! Thanks! You might also enjoy the a cappella version by Idea of North:
  8. Hi, and welcome to the best site on the net for Carver enthusiasts! I'm sure you'll enjoy the TFM35. Its a great sounding amp. I grew up enjoying summers at Wrightsville Beach. (If you need a great haircut my sister has a salon in Wilmington.)

Price $399 plus actual shipping (and paypal fees, if any) This amplifier has been recently serviced and checked (voltages verified, volume controls and switches cleaned) and is in excellent working condition. We have an original Carver shipping box, too. All functions operate as they should and it sounds great, being tested through both a pair of Altec Lansing model 19 speakers as well as a pair of Magnepan model MG2.5R speakers. It sounds beautiful driving either! Both meters, lights and volume controls operate as they should and without any noise or static in the volume controls. (Sounds great with a Ten Octave Audio LP1 tube preamp.) (Buyer should be aware that this is, in fact, a vintage amplifier and although it has been checked and serviced it could in the future require power supply capacitors or other components to be replaced. It is a vintage piece of equipment and as such does not come with any guaranties aside from the fact that it is currently working well with no issues and will arrive to you in that condition. Beyond that it is the buyers responsibility to maintain and/or service the amplifier.) Any questions please PM to iamjohngalt
