  1. Vinyl Is Final. Many people who have run cd`s for years when they first hear Vinyl on a good system are amazed. I always clean all my records on my VPI 16.5 as well as a new inner sleeve and a new outer sleeve. Don`t want the mold release agent on my stylus. I have to agree with Mike on almost all of his album choices. I would also include Meddle by Pink Floyd as a demo.
  2. VINYL IS FINAL! I Always clean new vinyl on my VPI 16.5 and I always use a new Quality sleeve for the record as well as a sleeve for the LP itself. Lots of folks that have sworn by CD change their tune the first time they hear a quality system for vinyl. JMHO. BTW I have a Huge CD collection as well. I use them in the cars.
  3. Welcome to the Carver Site Rxonmymind! Nice grab from the estate sale. Enjoy that Superb combo.
  4. I have both mediums, however I do prefer bumps. But if you look at my signature or my system pic`s you would never know that. I like vinyl and have a pretty good sized collection. Now I will say I do also like a great cd as well. I have a decent sized collection of cd`s as well. I just prefer bumps.
  5. Amazing shot! Talk about "Right place Right Time" Whoa!
  6. I too have my original discwasher set from the 70`s. I use my VPI for really cleaning and I use a carbon fiber brush for each time I pull out an LP. If I find one with a "little" schmutz on it I will use my discwasher.

    Vinyl record cleaner

All dependent on how much you are willing to spend. You can get manual ones from $50-$175. Then you get into the automatic ones, new from 500-2500 and more. Used from 300 and up.

    Cleaning Vinyl

OK you`re hooked now . Have fun cleaning and cleaning and cleaning. Now you just need to get new inner sleeves for every one you clean. I use these from SleeveTown with good results.Btw Gene git rid of that little brush they suppled you with and get a Mofi Brush! Much better and really cleans Great. http://www.sleevecityusa.com/diskeeper-audiophile-inner-sleeve-50-pack-p/312nrps.htm http://www.sleevecityusa.com/Mobile-Fidelity-Record-Brush-p/3brumofi.htm

  11. WELCOME Harvanator! Nice little "projects" you have going there! OCCCD and a Gearhead, Cool!!
  12. Supposedly they will hold 600 LP`s each. I am building two so a purge is coming.
  13. Well I decided I need a new way to store my records so that I can see the covers instead of the spines . Having to use glasses to see is a PIA. Anyway I used Baltic Birch plywood and Purpleheart as the accent on the edges you would see the laminations of the plywood. Almost done and I have a second coat of poly on them and am using 600 grit with one more hand rubbed coat at 1000 grit. here are a couple of pic`s in different stages:
