  1. Bob Carver creations work. With the vinyl craze still in full effect, the Autocorrelator needs to be back on the market. People are buying Sweet Vinyl’s SugarCube SC-1 Real Time Pop and Click Remover. Check the prices on those machines. Also, check the prices on the Autocorrelators on Ebay. What was once a $99 Buy It Now is now several hundred. Add in the cost of a refurbishing and shipping, and you have close to a grand in a 45 year old machine. Digital Time Lens, with all this streaming, needs to be back on the market. Everyone is streaming. Everyone is doing digital. I don't understand the science behind DTL/Soft EQ, but all I know is what my ears hear. I hear a three dimension soundstage unlike anything I've heard before when using it with my Crimson 275 amplifiers. Make a tube DAC with DTL and I'll be first in line. There is no greater brain in the game than Bob Carver.
  2. I'm at the point where I do not want to hear digital - CD or streaming, without the Time Lens. I have both a 490T and the external DTL, so I can use the external processor loop to engage the standalone DTL unit when using my Oppo.
  3. Another vote for Peak Unlimiter and Digital Time Lens. There is scant information about both inventions, but both work amazingly well. I use them daily. Also in heavy use is the Autocorrelator. Make a box with as many of Bob's creations as possible.
  4. Welcome! Don't listen to the internet noise about Bob Carver.
  5. Welcome to the board. I will suggest getting that amp recapped before hard use.
  6. Welcome. I suggest a Carver C-1 preamp.
  7. Welcome to the forum! Do you have pictures of the preamps? Chris
  8. That Zero Stat gun meant you were serious about records.
  9. He's always made great power amplifiers. In our collection we have Phase Linear 400, TFM6c, TFM15cb, TFM35, and now Crimson 275. They all sound fantastic. The little 6 is a real sleeper - it's matched to a pair of late 1960s Coral speakers. A 70s pressing of Abbey Road sounded great through this system.
  10. Jim, I found it to be suspicious that the guy running the Bob-bashing site promotes his friend who makes tube amps. It was after reading every single page of that thread that I reached out to you to purchase the 275 a few months ago. We spent a few hours listening to CDs through the 275 today. Sunfire TGIV restored by Flannery. Paradigm 9seMk3 speakers. Marantz CD-6000ose. We don't have hardware to measure readings, but we do have ears. And our ears told us it's the best sounding system we've ever heard. Chris
  11. Welcome aboard! I too live in Philly. Chris
  12. @BobTFM35 The Carver C-4000 we share is #0639. It is one of the earliest examples around. It has the Peak Unlimiter option. It seems the 4000t did away with that. I use that 100% of the time with vinyl, cassette and cd listening. It's like a dynamic range expander of sorts. I like it. Another benefit of #0639 is that is has Holographic Listening Angle adjustments, which I haven't got around to testing just yet but I'm looking forward to doing so. My vote is for the earlier C-4000!
  13. Leave transferring the film to these folks. Www.pro8mm.com These do my developing and transferring
  14. Thanks everyone. I listen to a bit of everything, but it's heavy on Beatles/Stones/Brubeck/Mingus and Chuck Berry! I haven't heard of Mike Keneally. Today was a day off, so I spun records. I'm in hour #7 and loving how it all sounds. Chris
  15. And thank you! Today I'm trying to get the speakers in the proper place for the sonic holography to work.
  16. Thanks everyone! My Father just left my house. This is day two of the C-1 testing. Mr. Bob Carver repaired it for us and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the workmanship and the quality of the audio. Yesterday was our first day of getting together. We spun lots of vinyl - the re-released Band of Gypsys, Band on the Run, Georgia Satellites...and cds - Sticky Fingers comes to mind as does some Sinatra. We used the Sonic Holography, selected and un-selecting it during many of the tracks to dial it in. Today was more experimentation with Sonic Holography, on CD strictly. We started out with the Legacy re-release of Brubeck's Time Out, then Time Further Out, them The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour from the stereo box set. We were both very impressed with how everything performed. It seems it gets better the longer I play it. I promise pictures will be posted!
  17. Hello everyone. I'm Chris and I've been lurking on the forum for a while and decided to join. I have a Carver C-1, 2 Carver TFM15CB in mono and Paradigm Studio 40 speakers. I also have a Sony SACD player and a Philips 887 turntable. I grew up with that same C-1 mated to a TFM35, which my Dad owns. He got us into Carver gear and all of these years later not much has changed. I look forward to exploring this site now that I'm a member. Thanks! Chris
