  1. September 9 to September 24. We hope to see you!
  2. Carverfest 2020 will be held, as it always has been, at The Watershed Resort in Bryson City NC. Here is a link to their Website...……….. https://www.watershedresort.com/ The Dates are September 9 to September 23. It is not necessary to stay the entire time. Some do, some stay even longer, some come for a week, a weekend, or maybe just drop by for a day visit.
  3. Does anyone know all of the names of the first attendee in (I think) 2007? I would like to add all of there names to the description in the banner.
  4. Randi and I will of course be in Cabin 8 again
  5. The contact person and procedures for this year's reservations are currently under discussion and should be finalized in the next week or so. We would hope to have a listing of Cabins here very similar to what we have had in the past. In the meantime, if it is your intent to attend this year in the same Cabin as last year you can go ahead and speak up. I have been notified by Ray that he and Mike are calling dibs on Cabin 12 since it was not occupied last year.
  6. Barry, at this point I do not of any discussion related to projects. Ed
  7. Pindrop,, I can help you with your ribbons anytime you are ready. I will send you a PM. Ed
  8. I asked him at CF because he was signing PCB's as RWC. He told me but I cannot remember.
  9. I was actually driving them with 45 watt QUAD 303 amp. I am now using a Carver TFM6B and it is working out fine.
  10. Hi, Sheldon did a great job on mine. I actually sent him the panels and electronics and did the disassembly and reassembly myself. This saved a little money and was far easier to ship. They are fantastic speakers even compared to modern options. The fact that they were designed in 1957 and were basically unchanged during their long production run is astounding. Many do not realize these were sold before stereo was common. They were sold as individual speakers. I hope you enjoy! Ed
  11. I have rebuilt all versions. They are similar but like most of what Bob did the design and materials were tweaked along the way. The method used in that video is interesting. I think it would tighten the Kapton only a marginal amount. If it works it works.
  12. Welcome to th forum. I can help you with those ribbons. Check out this thread....... http://thecarversite.com/yetanotherforum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=28126
  13. I am not sure about sealing the MDF in a low moisture environment. I think the ribbon tensioning might depend to some extent on the aluminum rod being a being able to "press" down into the opposing MDF channel.
  14. I don't know why. I agree it would seem that moisture would cause the MDF to swell but it also might make the MDF softer lowering the effective tension. I don't know. I will leave you engineer types to debate. I do know for certain that one of my 60 inch ribbons will buzz if the humidity is above about 60 percent. In the summer time, I have to run a dehumidifier in my basement area pretty much full time. My basement is not a totally underground basement. It is what is sometimes referred to as a daylight basement. The back of the basement opens to the outside.
  15. +1 .....and plus another.
  16. It is difficult to the point of almost impossible to open up a ribbon that has loose magnets without destroying the Kapton even with the right tools and jigs.
  17. There are others that know far more than I. I have never owned a pair of the original ALS with 30 inch ribbons but I am told that they require a lot of power that is stable down to 4 ohms or even less. They have been referred to as "amp killers".
  18. Welcome Carsten. Carver Platinums and Silvers are great speakers.
  19. I had not noticed that. This is a very unique item. Maybe it was produced right before the changeover to black.
