  1. No. Not really. He did not seem all that interested. I told him that I thought his pricing might not be so far out of line but that people would be skeptical given no outside information or reviews of the service. It is basically an unknown quantity.
  2. I spoke to him at length a month or two ago. So far he had not sold any repair services. I tried to encourage him to reach out to the forums to gain some credibility but he did not seem to see the need.
  3. The woofers are available new from Dynavox and reproductions of the emblems are available on eBay.
  4. The hole was significantly too small on all 6 of the sets I am assembling. The next step up was just right. I think filing would have been a really slow process. I guess it depends alot on the difference between steps on the partucular step bit. I would obviously suggest drilling a test hole and/or checking with calipers.
  5. We encounered this problem while at CF and Alex simply used a step bit and went to the next larger step.
  6. Well said, Greg!!
  7. James told me a while back that after the dust settled from the CF Speaker build that he was going to work hard to get the Kapton supply issue worked out. Should not be hard to find a bad ribbon somewhere to scavenge a small sample.
  8. Very interesting. Picture looks just like the ribbon material in the Amazings. Since the Website is in German it is hard to tell whether it could be purchased or not.
  9. I have both and feel like at their best the technologies are pretty equal. IMO, the Carver version is way more particular to listening position and precise set up of the speakers. The advantage being that any set of speakers can utilize the SH circuit. While it is possible to use both, and some do, I find it do just create a mess of echoes.
  10. Welcome. You will find a ton of great information here and a many helpful friendly Carver nuts.
  11. Thanks Dan. What's the best way to clean dust off the "tacky" surface of the 6.5" drivers? Also, do you have a link to the "upgrades" that people do to these? Thanks:-) Mark, great score. Search on the Polk forum "windex". I have not needed to use it but remember reading. Join the forum. There is a ton of information about upgrading and tweaking these plus you get a 10% discount and free shipping from Polk on things like tweeters. Ed
  12. The CRM2's with a good subwoofer would be good choice. Early reviews of the Carverfest Ribbon speaker indicate that it may even be better. Search for the thread. The downside is you would have to wait until the Fall for the Carverfest. Kve777's CRM2's look like a good deal.
  13. Welcome Sean, I also have a pair of large advents. Great speaker for its age. Be carful with you M1.0t. I am sure you know that is a lot of power for those tweeters. Are you using both of them?
  14. I am bidding. If i win it, I will share it.
  15. Has anyone read this review. From the looks of the picture, the original design must have changed from the review time to production. Bob always the tweaker. Looks like 8 drivers instead of 6 and square. This is the first time I have ran accross this. Might be common knowledge to you older members.
