The values for the power supply capacitors are shown in the schematic. It is always best to look at the capacitors in the unit before you order. There are often differences between the schematic and the actual unit on your workbench. You also need to measure diameters, heights and lead spacing. The power supply of the CT-17 runs hot so it is wise to use 105C caps.

Is your ultimate receiver a l or a ll? The later ones used inferior capacitors. Likely a change after Bob Carver sold the company. Sending the unit to Nelion is a good idea. The receivers are difficult to work on yourself

Welcome to the forum. The HR895 came out in 1992 (not 1982 , typo?). I've had mine since 1999. Nice unit. Crackling sound is often caused by bad pre-driver transistors. A relatively easy fix. Hopefully you can get it up and running again. If you have any problems, be sure to post them on the forum first.

Welcome to the forum. My first thought would be a dirty input level potentiometer. You could try spraying the pot with some fader lube and rotating the input level knob several times. See if that gets rid of the static.

If you have cleaned the volume pot and it still crackles or you have channel drop out you probably need to clean the balance pot. I am no expert, but I use fader lube on pots and contact cleaner on switches. Both caig deoxit.

Perhaps you could list the equipment that you have and we could walk you through how to set it up.
