  1. I use this online program for a tone generator and just run a 3.5 mm to RCA cable from computer to testing device. https://www.szynalski.com/tone-generator/ I also found this article good for ideas of troubleshooting distortion; https://sound-au.com/troubleshooting.htm#most3
  2. Are the main PS caps 71V 8200uF? If so, I have used ; https://www.mouser.ca/ProductDetail/Nichicon/LKSH2822MESB?qs=Ysb%2FBSeDKl2fVpBbD5gyQw%3D%3D for HR752 and CM1090 and HR895 I am no expert. If your receiver is distorted all of the time now, I would put your scope at the output and see what it looks like. Maybe put 1000 hz signal in. I recently repaired a distorted NAD 3020. The output sine wave was only distorted when I had an 8 ohm dummy load connected. Turned out to be a bad output transistor. I always do all of my testing through a dim bulb tester. I am sure others can offer better advice.

  6. I like Mark's choice. My dad bought that Kingston Trio album when he was in University. My folks haven't had a turntable for, oh, about 35 years but I have the records and that Kingston Trio record is one of my favourites.
  7. Three sets of giant speakers, a Marshall stack, and a 20 foot python..... ......Any neighbors left Steve?

  10. Open the CarverSite! bay doors please HAL.
  11. Welcome TJ. The C1 preamp is relatively easy to work on IMHO. I think that you would be fine starting with that rather than trying to recap an amplifier. The C1 solder pads are kind of delicate so you have to be careful with iron temperature and duration. Find some old junk PCB to practice on first.

  23. OK. The correct answer was, for sure, A7 with an open E bass. Clearly you are on edge due to gear separation anxiety.
  24. I was thinking an A7 chord with an open E bass.
