Rather than rush out a half ass disc/product I am willing to extend the time to whatever we need. So disregard the Saturday cutoff. I just thought we were closer to a final list. I will however tally all votes Sunday to give everyone a picture where we are.

Reference disc or Other?

I started a new Thread for finalizing the disc since this one has gotten fairly long.

It's time to put this baby to press and production. Here's the suggested rules: - Everyone gets 5 picks from the list. - You can use more than one of your votes for a track. - Mark the track as R for reference disc or O for other - Any track changes or substitutes have to be made by the first person that suggested the original track. Saturday Feb 4th at 12 midnight west coast time all voting ends. I will count the votes Sunday and post the results for a final list. When listing you vote use the format of track #, number of votes, and (other).R (reference) or O (other). Been so busy I forgot about compiling the rest of the suggestions.

Yes. Two separate projects; One commemorative, the other sonic. Creates less work and expense when someone only wants one or the other disc. I didn't submit anything for the sonic side because the project seems to be running counter to what I'd want. For the reference disc: Water Under The Bridge, Pshychodots, Psychodots Jaco, Jonas Hellborg, Bass Rodney can you repost info in the order of Song, Artist, Album? Being unfamiliar with the Artist and song makes it confusing for me. I have complied 2 separate list. If it is not stated it's from an Artist that passed in 2016 I put it on the 2nd list.

The list is getting long. My proposal is we cut it off at midnight Saturday the 21st. I will post a final request list and then everyone votes on the tracks. Depending on the final number of tracks will determine how many votes each of us gets to use. Any other suggestions how we should handle it?

I could load Apple Loseless to a dropbox of my suggested material. It is very much worth the effort. That may work.

If I knew or had the tracks everyone comes up with I would compile the disc. However, I know about 95% of the tracks everyone comes up with I will be unfamiliar with.

Welcome. I agree with everything that's been said about the C1. I have had my hands on two. The first one I let go to a member here. I recently managed to get another. I used it for the first time last week to test and compare 2 different pwr amps. For it being so old/vintage I was impressed with the sound quality. It truly has a WOW factor. Now, like you I plan to upgrade it (caps at a minimum). It is hard to believe it can sound better than it does now, but I want to see (or should I say hear). You've joined an awesome group of people here. Trust us, you'll buy and seek other Carver pieces and time passes.

We did have a great time. Talk about loud. My ears were ringing for quite a while after I left. LOL The JBL's hit 93dB and they remained consistently 90 and above (by the way I was sitting about 13-15 feet away when I measured sound pressure). I will post some pictures and a few sound/video clips when I get a chance. I have to laugh when Mark says he has a few speakers. I know I counted at least 6 or 7 pair and that didn't include other rooms or the EV's on the deck (there were no small or surround speakers either). They were all large and meant to be used as mains. I think I counted 6 Carver power amps, 2 Crowns and 2 Adcoms. Mark is definitely hooked like the rest of us and loving it. Those EV's on the deck really sounded good and had an extremely wide and nice sounding sound stage. They fooled the hell out of me. Yes, I truly was looking for another pair of small surround speakers but there were none. Their reflection traveled a good 16-20 ft from where they sat. I enjoyed all Marks speakers. Those JBL's when he insanely cranked them were like "In your face" and had chest thumping bass. It was like being in a club or dance hall. Again thanks for having us over. Randy

That was a good learning experience. You've found first hand that speaker placement is critical and has an effect on sound quality.

Good luck on the upgrade. I've been trying to get on someone's schedule but they all seem to me booked. Hopefully they will catch up and be able to take more work. Congrat's on your new acquires.
