  3. That was referring to an impedance spike, which probably corresponds to a amplitude drop in that area of the frequency range(guessing here). I was repeating what JH found, AK verified during his measurements and I hear(nothing jumps out at me, it seems the frequency response is 'smooth' for lack of a better term). No I didn't hear the peak, but how much more detail would there be if it was corrected.ray I'm wondering what a huge impedance spike sounds like. It is at 2150hz right around where we hear best. Maybe it has an effect on sound stage width or depth etc. Although the components are different values AK designed a similar crossover for the Forte IIs. Nothing jumps out at me either. Steve

    Loudness Wars

I stopped buying music CD's about 10 years ago because I thought they sounded terrible and for what I was getting overpriced. I recently started looking into other sources , FLAC etc, and I came across the loudness wars as an explanation for bad CD's. A YouTube search will find a couple of videos about it too. Here is a good link about the reasons behind it. Steve http://spectrum.ieee.org/computing/software/the-future-of-music/1
  16. I went through a few receivers before I realized that my speakers were the problem. Then I bought the Time Windows... they are still sounding good but getting old. Steve
  17. Had an early Carver receiver that I sold to put together a down payment for a car. Has it been ~30 years... I'm now looking to upgrade my stereo with some Carver equipment. Also looking to improve my ability to debug to the component level. Repairable Amp, Pre-Amp maybe. I came across this site and found it jam packed with great information.
