I have them hooked up to my Yamaha surround system for now. Need to get a Optical to RCA adapter. Man do they open it up while watching a movie.

4.0 MKII hooked up to the CV PA's and the stock 4.0 hooked up to the CV D9's in the room I use for music listening is just crazy powerful for me. 

 

Some years a go I picked up some Cerwin Vega RE25s with rotted surrounds for like $8. redid the surrounds, changed all the capacitors in the crossovers to film types, peeled the felt off the back of the mids, replaced the mylar dome tweeters with 4 ohm Dayton AMTs. Great speakers when I got done with them. They reside in the shop system right now. The thread showing what I did to them is buried over at Tapeheads somewhere......

Just remember that these will be impressive.  Warning disengage sonic holography because it will sound terrible if umbilical cord is used!

If anyone has replaced the rubber surrounds on the 6.5 inch Polk drivers please share your experience. I have an old fried MW6510 that I want to practice on. These rubber surrounds aren't like your typical foam surrounds and seem a little more difficult to remove.

Contact Polk, replacement drivers are $50 last I checked!  Mine have mw-6509’s

 

The butyl rubber surrounds work well, usually do not need replacement!

I have the M4.0t that @Nahash5150 restored and upgraded for me hooked up to them now with the CT7 from @itchitchand this set up is by far my best choice. I just received the Optical/RCA module today and set everything up. Going to be an exciting Saturday. I know these Polk's cant handle the full power but I am sure it will sound great and after a year of exercising the MKll I am very confident in the sound quality that is in store for this evening. 

 

Restored amp and speakers. Great combo.

One thing I found with my Polk SDAs, is that they sound best backed up against a wall with a little breathing room on the left and right for reflections.  I tried them in a number of arrangements in my 22x24 foot room, and when pulled away from the back wall, they sounded bad (to my ears).

I usually have them 12-18 inches from back wall, Polk suggests no toe in, keeping the fronts square to the wall!

 

not sure if the dampening inside affects the soundstage, I have dynamat on all the 6.5” drivers, I have Black hole acoustic dampening behind the woofers and tweeters!

 

you are going to love these, experiment on distance from the wall!

I have them at 12 inches from the wall. Not much choice of distance on the sides. I dont have much room to play with. My living room is a very large area with 19 ft ceiling so there is a lot of area to fill.  Definitely do not any sub woofers with these Polk's. Tons of bass.

And we are back to this topic again. LOL I finally found a set of OHM's I have been searching for. Ohm I . Well, actually the guy has 2 pairs. They are supposed to be very power friendly as in able to handle up to 1500 watts. This pair needs some work on the guts but I am very happy to finally have a set in my sound room. 

 

This guy has a pretty good collection of Ohm Walsh speakers, (4's and 2's) Some Ohm L2's, JBL L100 T3's, Maggies, And others.

Keep in mind that with speakers that old, there is a significant chance that the surrounds, or the diaphragm itself of the Walsh speaker may have some problems. Problems. Probably only a handful of people in the country who can work on them. One of the companies that can work on them, they actually repaired. Nice. Almost bought a pair of Walsh 4's a couple years ago. Was with my wife and if she didn't already have so much crap that she carries in her car they would have been mine.  I am certain that they would have needed the top foam replaced.
