Yippikia 18 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 (edited) GM and hi everyone! Very cool site. I recently added Carver TFM24 a month ago and love it! I have cobbled together a hybrid audio and home theater. My Carver driving older Polk RTA 11T as my fronts and Marantz 6012 for my NHTs with for surround - I Tested it as best I could at the time testing each ch with a speaker. I notice my power indicator light 1 (the bottom one) works. it lights but none of the signal lights from (LED 2 up to 7 don't light up) on the vertical LED's. I welcome any suggestions- regardless of what I am playing audio or action movies LEDs do not change ... Looking to see if I am not pushing it or are they just shot and can I replace them if they are? Not the only reason I am here but that is what led me to the site. - just found your site yesterday and am looking forward learning and checking out the various threads. Thanks! Edited April 19 by Yippikia just to add to it.... to make it read a bit better 7
Sk1Bum 13,112 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Hi Yippikia and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. I'm not familiar with the TFM series of amps, but they're very popular here. I would assume that the LEDs are replaceable. They are on the M series of amps. Perhaps others with experience will chime in.
Yippikia 18 Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 thank you! for the greeting. It is quite a site... I hope it is that simple and that I can find them to replace the LEDs.. It is not hindering the sound or amplification, so no big deal but would be cool if I can replace them so they work. thanks again- 1
Dennis47 1,016 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 WELCOME @Yippikia! Hope your TFM24 problem is a simple fix. Carver and Polk speaker are a good match.

Welcome aboard and congratulations on your acquisition! The issue with the LED's is an easy fix. You just gotta turn up the volume. I have a couple TFM-25 amps (same amp but with analog meters vs the LEDs). The meters move very little until you get it breathing a bit harder. I (dangerously, I know) assume the TFM-24 will act in a similar fashion to the mX.Xt series amps. The m1.0t, m1.5t, etc all behave this way - the LEDs don't start dancing until the system is getting pretty loud. Try turning it up (cautiously of course). Those Polks should handle all the Carver can feed it. Just don't drive the amp into clipping! Your Polks specs: Frequency response: 29Hz–20kHz ±3dB. Sensitivity: 90dB/W/m. Nominal impedance: 6 ohms. Amplifier requirements: 30–250W They will handle the 225 watts the TFM will dish out. Just be cautious and listen - if anything is unhappy it will let you know before anything bad happens. Let us know how it turns out! 1

In fact,...and the proof is as I have gotten older I don't (Crank it ) turn up the volume like I use too.... I will need to I will make it a point to see what it will do. thanks again. 1

BobTFM35 3,095 Posted Friday at 10:25 PM Posted Friday at 10:25 PM (edited) Welcome to the Carver site!! Do you have the manual to your Marantz along with the Audyssey Sound calibration microphone (ACM1HB) and remote? Do you have your Marantz feeding you tv set? If you have everything setup, and on, including your tv, press the red Music button on the remote and it should bring up a menu where you can switch the sound mode to stereo. Now the Marantz ony channels the sound to the front amp and speakers. You will also notice when you bring up this menu you can switch it into multi channel stereo. Yippikia 18 Posted Saturday at 01:38 AM Author Posted Saturday at 01:38 AM Hey Bob, thank you! Yes, to everything You asked me about except the manual, however, I did forget, heading to read music button. I can option it and isolate all my speakers, except the front with her what is connected to my Carver. So I followed your advice And then crank it up and they are dancing So now I know it works but most important It still sounds great. Thank you for your response. It helped not to mention the wife’s away, and I was able to crank it up! 3
BobTFM35 3,095 Posted Saturday at 02:27 AM Posted Saturday at 02:27 AM So glad that its working to your satisfaction!! Here is the web manual, and at the bottom left of the page is the PDF download. https://manuals.marantz.com/SR6012/NA/EN/index.php Enjoy!! 1
Yippikia 18 Posted Saturday at 10:13 PM Author Posted Saturday at 10:13 PM Thank you Bob for the 6012 manual. 1
BobTFM35 3,095 Posted Saturday at 11:55 PM Posted Saturday at 11:55 PM You are welcome! Another thing you can do is search on eBay for a printer that is producing a hard copy of the manual. Use "Marantz SR 6012 manual" and a few vendors should come up. Look for the ones who do it in color as it will be the better alternative to black and white.
