  2. Could well be. A post from the guy on Audiogon (link above) indicated that he contacted Factor Electronics, back in 2019, and they sent him an owners manual. I shot an email to the support address at Factor Electronics with the same request..., I haven't heard back.
  3. That amp looks to be from the short period that Emotiva and Carver were partners. I would reach out to to Emotiva tech support to confirm.

  5. Welcome to the site. I have bought kits in the past and won’t do it again. There are many versions that have updated components. I prefer to do my own parts list for the components that are in my unit. You can also see how parts fit in their respective areas and tweak them to fit better if needed.

  9. As others have said, that switch should be inaudible when activated or not. It rolls off frequencies lower than about 10Hz (these are so low we can't hear them, but the speakers can still respond to them) , which protects your speakers from 'rumble' generated from turn tables. However, if you use speakers which utilize sound ports for better bass response, it's a good idea to keep that filter active since vented cabinets tend to 'run away' from infrasonic signals which might be present in any media, and overextend the woofer, leading to damage. There are no less than 8 versions of the M-1.5(t) !!!
  10. Thanks, Greg. In the interest of "completeness..." Here's the Amazon Product Description: Product Description Carver high fidelity five channel amplifier. Carver signature audio quality. 5 x 150 watts RMS at 8ohms. 5 x 200 watts RMS at 4ohms. LED status display. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs. 12VDC trigger inputs. Gold plated binding posts. Individual channel automatic on/off And the bullet list of features: Here are the pictures that Amazon has on that link - it's 5 years old, so I suspect it won't work eventually - so here's the images, captured for permanency..., as this HTA5A ( HTA-5A ) question has come up a few times.
  11. Welcome! Shortly before I found this site, I purchased a M1.5t rebuild kit from the same vendor. while all of the parts inside were quality brands, the instructions were somewhat vague and there was no list of any oddities/ updates to the design. i.e. "some versions of M1.5t had a 2.2uF cap in location C-xx, but later versions have a 10uF. this kit is shipped with a 10uF" so I had a small handful of capacitors left over and were missing others. fortunately I had a few spares in my stash from other recent projects, but I did have to buy a couple non-polar caps from digikey and wait a week to get it. There were also baggies of small signal PNP and NPN transistors and I couldn't read the part numbers. they are not listed in the instructions other than being provided "just in case you need them". that sounds wonderful! While buying singles from a place like digikey can be cumbersome, I highly recommend doing the research and digging up the parts yourself so you know what you're getting. also consider the "BillD mod" if you do decide to take on the C-1 yourself. I haven't done it yet, but planning for it as a winter project.

  14. Interesting..., This post from a guy on Audiogon ( https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/carver-hta5a ) seems to indicate that the Factor Electronics amp is identical to the "OSD Audio XA 5180..., albeit apparently with some confusing power specs (maybe even incorrect specs) between the two. I have ZERO information beyond the research I'm posting here..., TheCarverSite focuses on the vintage Bob Carver gear from the 80's and 90's production, all built with Bob Carver's designs. Note that the Brand "Carver" was purchased by Phoenix Audio, then sold again, (and again..., probably)..., so it's a long shot or anyone's guess on how it got here. Another search found the manual to the OSD version of the same amp..., here: https://www.outdoorspeakerdepot.com/mm5/graphics/pdfs/OSD-XA5180-Amplifier-Manual2020.pdf That may be helpful..., maybe not..., I tried searching for the HTA50 manual, only one site had it, but it required too much effort http://ServiceManuals.net (purchase, registration, etc..., I avoid those sites.)
  15. Welcome to the site, @AG01, glad you found us. That model is one of the latest? HT systems that came out of China, in the last decade, I believe, and was designed and built by the Chinese entity that purchased rights to the Carver name and brand. I've never seen one, other than recalling seeing them listed on Amazon, a few years ago, for sale. No one I know has seen one - and I suspect a) that it was a limited run production item, and b) (MOST IMPORTANT) the item may have very little in terms of anything Bob Carver ever designed. I could be wrong - but Bob Carver has not been designing anything with the original Carver Corp brand and logo since the late 80's and early 90's of the last century. If you DID find a manual for this unit, we'd love to add it to our library, if you can copy it and share a PDF of it. FWIW, if you go to Google, Google's AI turns up a good, but short, list of references to reviews..., search on the string: "Carver HTA5A Review" and you'll see that it was sold by Amazon, in 2019. I saved the link to this amp for sale, on Amazon, years ago..., while you cannot "search" for the amp for sale..., you can see the archival link at: Amazon.com: Carver Five Channel Amplifier Home Audio/Video Product, Black (Carver HTA5A) : Electronics There is a picture of the unit with the lid off, and, to my average eyes, it doesn't look like any of the 5 channel "Bob" Carver amps I've seen. From the Amazon archived listing, this amp, it says, was made by "Factor Electronics." Factor Electronics ( https://factorelectronics.com/ ) no longer lists the Carver product(s) they distributed out of Burnaby, BC in Canada. They appear today to be a contract-middle-man and system customizer to get a variety of home theater and other products out to a variety of markets (home, church, office, etc.
  16. It might be noted that I found manual in the manual section of this site. The HTA5A is a home theater 5 channel amp and looks to be of a later design. There may be manuals available on the web somewhere, but I did not seek them out.
