  3. Why not, but it has to be an acoustic treated urn, with internal damping for your ashes ! 🤣
  4. Hi. The four block set of Cello's is Performance II amp, composed of two mono amps and two power supply. I have two sets of these, plus a pair of Encore 150 (with handles) and Palette and Suite with one common Master power supply. That's a lot of Cello, but I'm selling the perfs because the Encore are enough and eight boxes for around 400lbs total is ... Big. And takes some space ...
  5. Hello friends of the NHT club, I've finally been able to examine the speaker's crossover and draw some conclusions. It's clear the speaker has been internally modified, perhaps leaving only the original cabinets and drivers. The crossover was adapted for bi-amplification. Mundorf caps and some internal Van den Hul wiring, along with a WBT binding post, were added. Finally, four additional screws were added to the midrange driver. I don't know when or who did it, but they sound great. It's a bit of a Frankenstein build, but oh well! I've attached some photos. Greetings to all.

  10. Hello, my name is Julio. I live in Argentina and I am an enthusiastic admirer of the famous Phase Linear Series II amplifier, which in the 1980s was one of the most commonly seen power amplifiers in the best nightclubs in Buenos Aires. I even had the opportunity to repair a few of them—and also to burn one or two! I am an electronics technician, and back then I was just getting started. There wasn't nearly as much information available as there is today, and of course there were no AI tools. It was very difficult to find service manuals, and free video tutorials like the ones we have today were simply unimaginable. I would like to relive some of those days, and that's why I'm here. I would love to build my own Phase Linear amplifier. By the way, in July I will be starting a course on Class A amplifier design that I recently enrolled in. Greetings to everyone, and thank you for welcoming me to the group.

  11. Hello cvrt and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us! What a great collection of gear, and thank you for the pictures! I have a question. When I pass on from this life to the other side, is it OK if my daughters ship my urn and ashes to rest in your audio room? Thanks either way.
  12. No, never thought of that. TBH, I don't really see much advantage of doing it that way. The glue takes longer to apply and dry. Extra steps with the ironing. Wrinkling of the veneer would scare me a bit. The contact cement method has a few disadvantages as well .... once contact is made, it's stuck. The fumes can be difficult in closed space .... this should have been a winter project for me, but I do it outside so needed to wait for warmer temps. With the glue, I could have done it in February. Not really. I put SVS Subwoofer feet on the bottoms. Easy to get hands under to scoop them up and move them.

  14. Those Levinson Cellos look heavy!!! What are they? Are those two amps and two power supplies? Nice inventory. I would find no reason to ever leave that room.

  16. That's all folks ! For the moment ...
  17. Told you, depending on the season, it changes.
  18. Thanks again. Here some more : This room is my every morning pleasure, sometimes more !
  19. Oh a fantastic journey. Here I can't get qnother NHT speaker. Saludos
  20. I used this method to put veneer on my Bose 301 refurbish. Works like a charm. In fact, I don't buy the pre-glued veneer any more. I prefer this method.
  21. I have one of those 1 cf Parts Express sub boxes. I haven't finished mine yet. I'm assuming your cherry finish is a veneer, no? You did a terrific job with it. Did you consider putting some kind of handle on the cubes at all. I'm considering doing that to mine. It's just bulky and heavy enough with the MDF structure and the driver installed to be a bit cumbersome to move around.
  22. Depending on the size of your project, you might find overruns for veneer on eBay. I have found some pretty cool examples of zebra-wood, and book-matched walnut there..., Turns out there is a lot of scrap from the luxury airplane manufacturing industry... (I spoke to one seller way back when) and they sell the fairly big scraps on eBay, leftover from a build-out of a plane for a luxury buyer's customization. I have another project to cover a Kenwood turntable with zebra-wood (replacing the ugly vinyl veneer it came with). Spent just a few bucks for several pieces 8" wide by 36" long which will do the job for me. 😉 Amazon is a good place too, for sure.
  23. Have you ever used the heat/iron method with straight titebond wood glue? I re-veneered a pair of EPI 400 speakers using this method, and 4-quarter book-matched walnut on the top surface. It worked quite well.
  24. Thank you sir, appreciate your help. I really am looking for some burlwood veneer. I love the look of it!
  25. Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009KN8INE?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_0 I've used Mahogany as well. .... I think the vendor was "Edge Supply" $42 for the cherry, 2ftx8ft was perfect for this project, only a few square inches of waste. I use the old-school paper backed stuff with contact cement. There is a peel-and-stick option as well. Contact cement has tripled in price in 6 years .....used to be $8/quart now its 24. Similar issue with the finish I use .... A quart of General Finishes Arm-R-Seal Satin is $45, half that not long ago. Unfortunately I was out of both ..... should have bought a pint of each.
  26. @jeffscan you please tell me which site you order your veneer from please?
