Reach out to Ed - @sea , as he has the ability to refresh/repair the ribbon tweeters. Also, if you have 4x woofers in each speaker, I don’t think you have Silvers (they have 3x woofers)…

Hello everyone, I am a retired electronics design engineer who designed mostly digital and embedded microprocessor designs with a smattering of some analog circuits along the way. The Carver PM-1.5 is quite the challenge. I bought it many years ago and it worked well until the large power supply capacitors failed. I replaced them and it worked for quite a while longer and failed some years ago. I removed the dual power supply caps and found they had failed which is at least part of the problem. Now I am looking at sourcing replacements for them ( I have seen the EBAY replacement board with 4 caps), but I will probably make my own. Then I will see what else is wrong with it if I am able to . I appreciate any suggestions along the way. Especially how I can isolate my digital oscilloscope so I can use it to safely view wave-forms should I get that far. I have a Variac specially for this, but have never had the issue of needing to also isolate a 'scope to make measurements. Ways to do that would be greatly appreciated and thanks ahead of time if any one out there has the way.

As you can imagine, Greg is very busy. And rightfully so, he's damn good at what he does. Give him a day or two and he'll (or Jenny) will respond. I sent my M1.0t to him quite a long while ago to be restored and get the mkii opt 001 upgrade. I don't regret it at all. That upgrade takes a damn good amp and makes it a beast! You won't regret getting it done. Plus it comes with a very good warranty! -

Well, I now have these hooked up and am pretty happy with what I'm hearing from my ADS L810's! I've had it pretty loud, but have yet to see the meters jump to anything, just the base LED's lit. The M-1.0t does have a very audible hum. I've eliminated a ground loop as the cause. I've sent Nelion a service message per their site instructions a few days ago and while they're at it, I figured the mkII upgrade and signal path upgrade would be good to add to the base restore. Wondering how quickly Nelion typically responds to email as I've heard nothing yet? And yes, I've checked for a response landing in spam. -
