  24. Rahsaan Barber, Eternal was released on October 9, 2026. "Already an accomplished saxophonist and composer, Rahsaan Barber nonetheless reaches a magnificent degree of creative energy—fresh, thoughtful, and somehow both raw and refined—on Eternal, arriving via his own Jazz Music City Records on October 9. The album features the Nashville-born, Chapel Hill, North Carolina–based saxophonist with a new collaborator, New Orleans guitarist Ted Ludwig, alongside Barber’s longtime rhythm section of pianist Matt Endahl, bassist Kevin Beardsley, and drummer Joshua Hunt." 25. Vanisha Gould, What An Interesting Girl was released on October 9, 2026. "The album follows Gould’s 2024 release She’s Not Shiny, She’s Not Smooth. NPR included its single “Demure” among the Best Songs of 2024, with Nate Chinen praising Gould’s “swinging, Bob Dorough-esque deadpan” and calling the song “a clever indictment” of unsolicited advice directed at women. Chinen has also called Gould “a major talent who combines a blues cry with a storyteller’s point of view.” DownBeat praised her clarity, humor, knowledge and pathos, while JazzTimes cited her “plush contralto” and “keen emotional intelligence.” " You can read the rest of the review here...
  26. Johnny Rivers Memphis Tennesee (1964)
  27. Doug Webb, Watch Your Step was released on September 25, 2026. "Webb rolls in like the San Francisco fog on a big bold and bluesy “The Webb We Weave”, and long boards around Charnette’s wailing white caps on the sleek soul sista’ of “Five From Horace”. Lester Young smoke rings blow out of Webb’s sax bell on “Good Morning Heartache” while going bell canto a la Pavarotti on “I’ve Grown Accustomed To Her Face” with Sikula’s Don Ameche pencil thin mustacheo’d of a tone is a tasty treat on “Lullaby For James” and is gorgeously desultory for “Good Morning Heartache”. And the only thing that could make this better is for another tenor man to join in, so Cory Weeds enters stage left and lets Charnette pull more plugs than a plumber on the super bopping “Watch Your Step”. This album is a protein rich diet in a high carb world of anemic posers. Dig in with a sharp knife." You can read the rest of the review here...
