  1. @Rod_H Thank you for the crossovers, and here's what you asked in return: Abide!
  2. The Night Flight Orchestra, Aeromantic was released on February 28, 2020. "Aeromantic is a decadent, melancholic but life affirming assault on all of your senses. THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA has expanded their sound, and »Aeromantic« is an album that contains all your guilty pleasures, everything from mind-melting hard rock, sultry soul grooves, new age bleakness, shameless pop songs and death-defying power ballads." 3. Siena Root, The Secret Of Our Time was released on March 20, 2020. "Siena Root has returned and graced us all with The Secret of Our Time. The Secret of Our Time is Siena Root’s latest offering that comes three years after the stellar 2017’s A Dream of Lasting Peace." You can read the rest of the review here...
  4. The Funk Art, Man Is A Monster
  5. Jason Miles & Kind of New, Black Magic was released on March 6, 2020. "Like his first album under the Kind of New moniker, a 2015 collaboration with trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, Jason Miles’ Black Magic is all about steep, deep jazz-funk groove-making, catchy melodies, and no-holds-barred solo romps, with more than a few nods to the brand of ’70s electric jams associated with the pianist/keyboardist’s onetime employer, Miles Davis. Unlike the earlier disc, the new one is more of a band effort, featuring a group he recently led on a tour of Europe: saxophonist Jay Rodriguez, trumpeter Philip Dizack, bassist Reggie Washington, and drummer Gene Lake." 6. T-Square, AI Factory was released on April 21, 2020. I can't find a single review of this album anywhere, so here's my take. This is Japanese jazz fusion, very smooth with great segues between the instrumentalists. Saxophone, horns, piano, guitars all blend very well together with catchy melodies. If you like The Rippingtons, then you'll like T-Square.
  7. House Of Lords, New World - New Eyes was released on June 12, 2020. "“New World - New Eyes” is House Of Lords’ twelfth studio album, following the well-received “Saint Of The Lost Souls”. Recorded and produced by the band’s singer and mastermind James Christian, this collection of songs has an incredible flow of up-tempo and mid-tempo rockers mixed with power ballads, which lean a bit more toward keyboards this time around, but without compromising the band's trademark sound, which is based around Jimi Bell’s guitar work." 8. Kim Waters, Shakedown was released on June 12, 2020. "Kim Waters has enjoyed a career longevity that is rare in the music business. For three decades, the prolific chart-topping saxophonist, composer and producer, has reigned as one of the premier architects of Urban Smooth Jazz and a beacon of light in Contemporary Jazz. He ‘s garnered praise from critics and fans alike, ranking among the top five best-selling instrumentalists in jazz. “New music continues to come out, which gives the world something to lift them up and share with family and friends,” states Waters, whose new and 24th recording as a leader, Shakedown offers a thrilling ten-track escape meant to catapult us to a happier frequency." 9. Malia & Boris Blank, Convergence is great with Sonic Holography engaged. Thanks for sharing this Charlie!
  10. Dool, Summerland was released on April 10, 2020. "The first two songs on the album, “Sulphur Starlight” and “Wolf Moon,” start off in that perfect Dool fashion. Sporting those minimalistic, but at the same time wonderfully huge choruses along with the carefully arranged music, played by a musically smart band who all but underline the beauty of Ryanne Van Dorst’s vocals. One of the very best front women out there, at the moment. She has that Patti Smith kind of a quality to nail you where you stand, grab you by the sleeve of your jacket and completely get your attention. She is one of those vocalists, you actually listen to what they have to say. Or to sing, to be precise. She never says it in a blunt or straightforward fashion either, but after the album is through, one often sits and ponders on the stories just heard." You can read the rest of the review here... This album sounds fantastic on my moPlats. Dorst's vocals are great on the ribbons, and the bass drum thumps hard on 8 12" woofers.
  11. Gordon Lightfoot (he's 81), Solo was released on March 20, 2020. "Like many of us, Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot was expecting to have a very busy 2020. On March 20, he released a new album, titled Solo, marking the first time he returned to the studio to record new music since 2004’s Harmony." You can read the rest of the review here...
  12. Kenny Barron / Dave Holland Trio featuring Johnathan Blake, Without Deception was released on March 6, 2020. "The strong rapport between pianist Kenny Barron and bassist Dave Holland can be felt all the way through Without Deception. Much like their previous collaboration, 2014’s The Art of Conversation, the music they create is often quiet and subdued. But this understatement pulls the listener closer, into the vastness of Barron’s melodic vocabulary and the drive that Holland gently exerts behind him, before the bassist steps forward to take one of many well-placed solos." 13. Kandace Springs, The Women Who Raised Me was released on March 27, 2020. "Singer and pianist Kandace Springs — whose soulful singing led her late mentor Prince to praise her “voice that can melt snow” — has announced her newest project, The Women Who Raised Me, out March 27 on Blue Note Records. Produced by GRAMMY-winning producer Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock) — who produced Springs’ 2016 debut Soul Eyes — The Women Who Raised Me is a tribute album to the female vocalists who most impacted Springs’ music, stylings, and journey." 14. Lord Fowl, Glorious Babylon was released on April 24, 2020. "There is a definite classic rock feel throughout the album. The riff in the title track brings Aerosmith (another Northeastern rock and roll band) to mind. The melody is based in the blues while delivering a healthy dose of rock and roll. Ultimately, this album is built on that ethic. Without question it is enough to be considered a groove-rock bible. At the same time, you realize that the rhythms and the riffs are based in the blues. You won’t confuse the tunes with John Lee Hooker or anything like that, but you can hear that the blues plays a significant role in the sound and structure of these tunes." 16. Wolfgang Muthspiel, Angular Blues was released on March 20, 2020. "Guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel's fourth leader date for ECM Records—and his second trio outing for that storied imprint, following Driftwood (ECM Records, 2014)—is a marvel of ingenious interplay, musical sensitivity and absolute sincerity. Joining forces with drummer Brian Blade, a longtime band mate, and bassist Scott Colley, a playing partner from the '90s, Muthspiel delves into the deepest recesses of his mind and sound, delivering a program which is as absorbing as it is refreshing." 17. There were no gaskets when I got them, but there might have been originally.
  18. Recent experience tells us that can be like a kidney stone.
  19. Thank you. I have grommets.
  20. Ready to burn the old ones! I'm guessing I mount these to the bottom of the cabinet. Should I mount them directly flush to the bottom, should I use standoffs, or does it matter?
  21. I'd check for water damage if Alma is close to the spring flooding.
  22. Semblant, Obscurra was released on March 6, 2020. Semblant lyrics and videos are disturbing to me, but Mizuho Lin's voice... Like Pat Benatar, her training is in opera, and it shows. Her voice is similar to Ms. Benatar's. Mizuho Lin has her own youtube channel with a Bon Jovi cover, a song from Frozen, chamber choir music, and more here. "Obscura is definitely a more mature record. We were really conscious of how we wanted it to be since the beginning of the process, so we took all the time we needed to make the album exactly how we wanted. It’s important to say that we’ve been together as a band for many years now and it also had a big impact on the end result of this record.” You can read the rest of the article here...
  23. Alexa Tarantino, Clarity was released on June 5, 2020. "Alexa Tarantino is a woodwind virtuoso who has a fluid, swinging style with remarkable tone. In that sense, the album title is fitting. Clarity is her second release as a bandleader following last year’s Posi tone Winds of Change. She is also a composer and educator. Tarantino is the principal soloist in front of the rhythm section of pianist Steven Feifke, bassist Joe Martin, and drummer Rudy Royston. Tarantino was named one of the “Top 5 Alto Saxophonists of 2019” by the JazzTimes Critics’ Poll." You can read the rest of the review here...
  24. Hello Albikes, and welcome to thecarversite.com. We're glad you're hear. There is a lot of information here, much technical know how, and a pretty good bunch of folks that are happy to help. I guess you know that already. Nice score on the Plats. Plats are great. I picked up a pair of heavily modded Plats just over a week ago. Love 'em. Now that you reached Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of audio gear. In the meantime, kick your shoes off, turn up the music, and welcome aboard.
