  1. I'll wait till my son gets home from school, he can help me out with that.
  2. Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but here goes. I have been slowly getting back into my vinyl collection and was in need of a easy record cleaner. I had seen and read reviews of the GEM Dandy Hydraulic Record Cleaner. I took a look at it and figured I could build one myself and save a bunch of shipping costs. Here in Canada if something comes out of the US we pay through the nose for shipping. This is why I built one of these. Here are some pictures: Assembled Unit. Here is a view of the brass axle I made up. Label protectors. Label protectors started life out as a couple of these: and with a little machining and we had label protectors/record clamps. Here is a shot of my new and improve spray nozzle. I will take and post pictures of this being used. Enjoy.
  3. Hey Snow, re-foaming is not hard to do at all. The hardest part is getting cleaned up for the new surrounds. I had 4 woofers and 4 Passive Radiators to do in my Advance A+. This would cut you cost to shipping surrounds to you only. Also you won't have to worry about the shipping goons destroying or loosing your speakers. JMO Mike
  4. I'm almost ashamed of my meager list. 1 pair Advance A+ 1 pair Polk Audio 5b's

  11. When I re-foamed my Advance A+ speakers I got new center caps with my surrounds. The caps that came with my surrounds were and exact match to the originals. With the cap removed you can use shims between the voice coil and the center magnet pole. Once the surrounds are dry ( I left them for 24 hours) then take the shims out and the glue the cap with the same glue as you used for the surrounds. I used a razor knife and carefully cut the cap as close to the original glue line. It can be done with out removing the cap, you just have to be more careful with alignment. Move the cone in and out and listen for any rubbing of the voice coil and the pole piece. the spyder should keep them in relative alignment. Hope this helps out. Mike

  15. You definately want to keep the Peerless tweeters, I have a pair of Advance A+ that have 2 Peerless tweeters and they sound great. I think the difference in sound comes from both the tweeters and the re-cap. The RDO-194 are not as shrilly sounding as the SL-2000.
  16. I think the Inductors should be OK, they are a coil of wire and if it doesn't smell burnt it should be OK. About 1-1/2 years ago I re-built the cross overs in my Polk Audio 5B, I used Carity SA series caps and Mundorff resisters, I also replaced the SL-2000 tweeters with the newer RDO-194 (had a blown tweeter). it took about 50-60 hours of playing time to break in the tweeters but now they sound better then when they were new.
