Those Polks were my wife's b-day present years ago when they came out, replacing a pair of Silver ALS  in oak that went awry, smoke wafting out the back. A trade-in to the dealer (brothers, good guys) landed the Polks. Awesome speakers, she would give you two thumbs up!

What a score! Congratulations. My biggest find was a pair of Dynaco a25s on the sidewalk.
No one will beat my JBL C-60 Soverigns for $50. S8R three ways. Got $3600 for them.

Bet you wish you still had them. eusa_think.gif

You're a lucky man!! Today is actually my wife's birthday. I can only imagine the look I would get if I brought her home some Polk SDA SRS mega towers for her special day eusa_snooty.gif. Only good thing about it would be that I would be spending the night in the bar embeer.gif

Very nice!

Have you done any upgrades to yours? Are yours SDA SRS? Blade blade?

Mark, no upgrades bought them 2 years ago and they sat till I found a place to use them. My intent is to biamp them with 2 Sunfire 300X2's. Currently using a TFM-25

It's been many years since I heard them but they were phenomenal. I installed them for a lady who was Agoura phobic. She grew up in San Francisco going to the symphony. Her malady prevented her from going anymore. When she heard the Polks for the first time she wept with joy. She was back at the symphony. Really a touching event. I'm quite sure without any upgrades the speakers will sound remarkable still.

Good score for sure...

I snagged a set of SDA 2.3tl's a 8/9 years ago...me and the wife were on our way to work and stopped a the local 7-11 for our morning coffee. I saw the "fresh" local trading paper that I always pick up...on the way to the shop I was thumbing through it (wife was driving) came across the ad Polk SDA 2.3's $300 and Adcom 555II for $250....I was like OH chitt...told the wife when we get to the shop I'm calling this guy to get this stuff....She said "we don't need any more damn speakers and amps"....My reply is always...you don't understand....

We get to shop, I call the guy. The amp is sold but he still has the Polks... I told him I'm closing my shop I'll be at his house in about 1 hour.

Wife was not happy....all the way to his house she was bitching. But I knew when we get there she will understand. We get to my mans house. He opens the door, we go in. He says the speakers are up stairs in my audio room. When we walked into the room, my wife took one look at them. "Oh my" came out of her mouth. A quick audition and the deal was sealed... I knew she would understand...

Sigh... :-( if I knew how to solder I would mod mines in a NY MINUTE but no

So what is it that you need Bryan? I'm at a loss on this blade/blade pin/blade etc. I know it's the umbilical  hook up between the speakers but what is the modification?

Good story, good wife MCP.
Thanks pindrop.....she really is a good wife, she loves the audio stuff. She was the one that found my 1st set of Klipsch (LaScala's)  25+ years ago in the Sunday paper.
When I got my 1st Carver TFM55x and powered up some of my Klipsch she said "Ahhhhh you need to off those Adcom's and get some more Carver's"..... Yea she is something

OK I was thinking you had found a way to modify the umbilicals and in/outs on the cabinets. They are what aren't making sense to me. It would seem like you could do that but I think I also remember something about the ground or something about your amp that would keep you from hooking them together that way. I'll look to see what's needed for the x-over mod and pm you. Maybe we can work something out.

I had read many years ago about the SDA SRS polks with the crosstalk canceling technology. It sounded similar to the principal of Sonic Holography. What is the effect when using these speakers in combination with SH.Always wondered about that.

I'm thinking time smear/echo, like listening to music at the other end of an under road culvert.

I've read that those who've tried it found it unlistenable.

Hey Mark, you have a lot of great speakers so also a lot of great reference points. What are your impressions with the Polks?

You might want to try emailing him Paul. I don't think you are likely to get a response here... emsad.gif
