Just an update on the tri-amping and the hum. tri amping via 2 PM-600s a TFM-25 and the c-1 through the DBX234 worked great. Although I decided to go back to a single amp, the tfm-25 and the c-1. because it is summer and the three amps were heating up the room, that with combined power usage and the cost of electricity going up. I decided it wasn't worth the slightly added fidelity. The subtle hum was coming from the tape monitor cable between pre amp 1 (Yamaha) and pre-amp 2 (Kenwood) on a separate paired amp and preamp setup. gone now

And, if they are in rosewood finish !!, you have found a unicorn. My 2.5i pair are in piano black - with only one unnoticeable flaw in the left grill cover..., If they are in perfect condition, and all drivers are perfect, that's a good deal. Remember the trick to test tweeters..., bring with you a cardboard Paper Towel tube from your kitchen. Put one end up to the tweeter, and the other end, bring your best hearing ear to it, and it will isolate and direct the tweeter frequencies right into your ear in a way that somewhat filters what is coming out of the mid-ranges and low-range drivers..., not perfect - but it will tell you if a tweeter is blown (buzzing or not working at all) which when demoing for purchase, is about all you can do.

If they are in good shape, that’s a fair price.

I had those. Great speakers. Definitely worth $299 if they are decent.

A local guy posted a pair of 2.5i for $299. They look to be in fine shape. Is that a good price? He says they have no issues. PMAT

Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay! The Phase Linear 1000 Autocorrelator is going to be roughly near $150 - $250. Pristine and rebuilt (with wood case), maybe $350? That's a guess on my part for the upper end. Have not seen too many near that high end. Maybe other with more knowledge on this exact piece will chime in and provide better info.

a short introduction. Hello to all, my name is Marty but I go by the mad Czech. My awesome friend and brother in arms "the Jigster " gave me that moniker back in the 80's. We have enjoyed music and Hifi equipment conversation every since we meet. Jig is a huge Caver enthusiast and has turned me into one as well. Im retired and have gotten back into collecting vinyl, i love collecting and listening to my albums. I recently picked up the hobby of collecting vintage Hifi stereo equipment and speakers. Im teaching myself how to repair and update the pieces of equipment I've acquired. I know enough to be dangerous, i can read a schematic and can replace basic components. When it comes to making adjustments that i cant do, i don't own an osyloscope, but i do have a nice multimeter and a few otherpiecesoftestequipment. I started with updating and or replacing speaker crossovers. So now I'm moving on to rebuilding receivers. I have a Yamaha CR-840, Fisher RS-2015. I recently purchased a Phase linear 1000 S/N 9841. From everything I've read it needs to be rebuilt. I cleaned it and used Deoxit for all switches and pots but that is as far as I've gone. I will need to find someone to do a complete rebuild due to that being over my head. Im asking for thoughts on if its worth the cost to completely rebuild or to just have the parts that are out of spec replaced? Or should I just purchase one that has been updated and in specification? I really want to add a PL1000 to my system and enjoy its benefits of noise free vinyl and the sooner the better. Thank you for letting me participate on this site. I look forward to hearing from members regarding the PL1000.
