  1. Hello guys. I’m a 43 year audiophile. I bought a carver Sunfire signature new in the mid 90’s. The amp has been running non stop since new. I know the amp is getting long in the tooth. I am going to get the Sunfire rebuilt soon. Currently my speakers are jtr ht 28. I also have a pair of mirage m3 si. The pre I use is the Audio Research sp 14. My turntable choice varies with the way the wind blows. I own 2 lencos L 75’s, technics sp 15,Rega planar 3, Oracle Delphi 2.

  2. Welcome, @Sach, glad you found us. There's a cleaner/solvent called "DeOxit" which is what people use to address balance knob corrosion/oxidization, which could be (as already stated) the cause of your issue. Use the SEARCH at the upper right of the home page, here on this site, and you will find many threads on how to clean pots (potentiometers) - the electronics component on the backside of the knob. This may be more effort than you want to take..., cleaning a pot should be a small task, with a low cost, if you can find a tech that will just do that for you locally. Always let the solvent dry overnight after conditioning before powering up the unit. Again, Welcome, and glad you found us here on the best #1 fan site for Carver owners.

  3. Sach, Welcome to the site. You may find answers here, at least for Carver equipment. Fortunately, what you are describing is probably a simple case of a balance control that is in need of cleaning with a spray solvent. The top of the unit must be removed to see the backside of the control that is dirty and I can't say yet, but there is a possibility that the bottom should be removed for the spray nozzle to be put into the balance control. Photos as you go along always help.

  4. Welcome, @Tallguy, glad you found us. Many of us love the Sunfire Signature. Like you, I have more turntables than I can possibly use..., the bit rotation. Again, welcome. PS., we love pictures! Post your rig sometime.

  5. Welcome! Sounds like you've got some nice equipment. I love that Technics SP15. I had a pair of those in a recording studio I worked in for a number of years. Real pieces of technical art. Looking forward to some pictures!
