  1. Which ones?
  2. Nice!
  3. Ah ha! You know you can't just run one amp on those. Post up some pictures home slice.
  4. Those are some sweet speakers YardCrap! Had to look the manual over because I was wondering if they ran at 2 ohms as well. Guess not and that's good for you but noticed you can tri amp them? Holy smokes! Those things gotta sound real good, very cool.
  5. Welcome to the site Terry.
  6. Thats not surprising. What I've recently learned is that some eletrolytics in speakers are underrated by 20% so that when they age the values will stay somewhat intact. And as well they are not prone to leak like the caps we replace in our amps. Glad your happy with your capacitor tester.
  7. Jules: Ahh, what the fuck's happening? Aw shit, man! Vincent: Aw man, I shot Marvin in the face... Jules: Why the fuck did you do that? Vincent: Well I didn't mean to do it, it was an accident! Jules: Aww man, I've seen some crazy ass shit in my time but this- Vincent: Just chill out, man! I told you it was an accident! You probably, you went over a bump or something... Pulp Fiction
  8. I dont know what happened but the price went from 16 to 66? I ordered this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/290751854076?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I will give my impressions WTF? Im looking at it right now and it says $16.68 with free shipping.
  9. That sucks Dan. I hope to see some road shows pick back up here. I think there are still a great crew people on here that can act like responsible adults when it comes to handling other peoples property.
  10. I was looking at that one on ebay as well. I don't mind spending money on one but don't want to buy a piece of shit. I PM'd Greg to see what he's working with.
  11. Thanks, Yeah a little bit, the Watkins dual VC with different impedance woofer with 1100uf and 1400uf caps soak up a bunch. I Am powering them with a Rotel 990BX, should be 320 rms into a 4 ohm load. I am going to get a cap tester but know after 35 years these would probably benefit on a cap and resistor upgrade. Now there's an idea! What kind of cap tester are you getting?
  12. Welcome back! A fellow Infinity connoisseur I to have been thinking about a recap on my Kappa 9's recently, but from the looks it might eat a day. Never heard those ones before but im sure they are of the best cut.
  13. Hello and welcome, cool pictures.

  19. Measured impedance at speaker input it came out to 3.8 ohms clearly not 8 or even 6 ohms . They actually surprised me listening to them, the bass response was tight and quick. Didn't expect that out of those speakers, but they are Kappas. Spent an hour listening to them and didn't want to get up and put it all away before the wife got home. Everything is back in the closet until the Bill. D. C-1 and the M-1.0t MKII show up.
  20. Thanks guys! I be testing them today when I get home. Going to use the A-400x for the test, then maybe a TFM-45 for comparison. They are rated between 4-8 ohms. I'm sure they are under rated like my 9's due to the crossover network.
  21. Bought a pair of Kappa 6 speakers off of ebay last month for $435.00 total w/shipping and were in really great condition, couldn't pass them up. Heres what showed up... The seller and i came to an agreement. Rather than me ship them back for a refund i suggested he paypal me $200.00 for the cost of repair on the Polydomes, to which he agreed. Nice guy by the way. He had no idea how to ship these correctly which is why there was damage. Repaired Polydome going in... Had to get 6 of these grill clips from Michael Marks "A big Infinity guy on ebay" who also did the repair on the Polydomes. Great guy to deal with. Had to recover the grilles to give them that new look. Masking tape for over spray on the 3M 90 adhesive. Had a good time working on these. They will be paired with a Bill D C-1 by Dennis and an M-1.0t MKII by Rich P. This system will wind up in my office so while im away from home ill be jamming out to some good tunes. Might even piss off other tenants in the building.

    Toe-in or not?

The kappa 9's have a rear firing ribbon and the polydome is ported to fire forward as well as through the rear port, so there's mids and highs flying out through the back of the cabinet which might have something to do with the imaging. I'm going to try a little toe to see if I don't need to move the sectional tonight and do a comparison.

    Toe-in or not?

Not sure, had these in probably 2 or 3 deg aiming at the center of the back wall. I shut all the other amps and speakers off for this experiment and was completely dumbfounded when i had the K9's dead center.

    Toe-in or not?

Again not to thread jack but i followed the manufacturers suggestion and took all the toe out. They obviously knew what they were doing...(K9's are 8' apart and 10' from the seating area) when i sat in the center the sound came from the center. I have never heard imaging for the 8's or 9's before like that. And thats because ive been toeing those speakers in for years. Better late than never i guess. Going to have to move the sectional over a bit, want that sweet spot hitting my seat. Totally stunned at this point, thought i knew all there was to know about these speakers.

    Toe-in or not?

Brought the toe out a little more than where i had it toed in...Much better! Soundstage is bigger. Not quite parallel with the wall as the factory specs state but i don't have them 4' from the wall either. Thanks for all the great input guys and to dcl for starting this thread.
