  1. I use the Ikea version and love them. I added a pc of 1/4 round approx 12" back to allow me to push the albums up against. What little ocd I have lets me keep the edges in line The problem I have is I alphabetize my near 600 albums. As it grows it seems to force me to move and shuffle to accommodate. Not a bad problem to have
  2. Linda Ronstadt with the Nelson Riddle original pressings are excellent and ones I use to test listen. Mark Knopfler / Dire Straits re-release's. Knofler even puts a sticker on the album jacket about sound quality One of the poorest IMO is Ghrols Sound City. Its no where the quality of the originals from SC: Fleetwood's, Petty's and on. The docu he did is excellent and worth the watch on Netflix.
  3. Greg (4krow) As we discussed behind the scenes I had thought about a tray. But simplicity took over and I got it in action sooner Now I need to fill up the empty spots
  4. Thanks to Greg for another fine Cigar box I've re-purposed to house my tubes. I took one of his blank boxes and cut the foam he shipped it to me and made a nice little box to house tubes. This one has some neat looking feet on the corners. When you pick up one of his buffers (Highly recommended) consider another box to hold some tubes!

    Added to my Amazon list
  6. Asian7 Here is my thread from a year or so ago and my test results under a microscope. It looks at the Spin clean vs the US cleaner and a couple different solutions for the US. Just a FYI it might have something useful for your application After reading back over my thread I may reduce the X-100, maybe..... What I end up with I am happy with, so it may be if its not broke dont fix it! Paul
  7. Spin dry rinse solution: Fill to the line wit DI water 2oz of 90% IPA
  8. Porter's and stouts
  9. Reading back on my thread from 2 years ago I mentioned Jet dry in the rinse. Maybe a drop or 2 would be good in the rinse. Use the IPA?
  10. Not being a chemist I was viewing the X-100 as Dawn. I felt that by dropping the X-100 in rinse I was eliminating a potential film Always learning and testing
  11. Your using X-100 in the rinse too?
  12. My mistake my conversion in my head was wrong 10mL is what I use, or .33 oz
  13. US Cleaner 128oz DI water 4-6 oz 99% ipa 10mL x-100 Spin dry Fill to the line wit DI water 2oz of 90% IPA
  14. Yes!
  15. While tinkering this morning around the shop thought I'd share a few shots of my DIY ultrasonic record cleaning setup. This follows up on my old US cleaning thread. I use a solution of DI water, Triton X and 99% ipa in the US bath. I slowly rotate the stack of (4) albums over the course of 30 min at 30C. I then use a spin clean with a DI and mild 90% ipa solution as my rinse step. I have now moved to air drying the albums where I used to wipe down with clothes. I now clean all album new or old. Once they hit the table I us an AT anti static brush
  16. Actually 2, and both excellent from the whole collection of greats. Love over Gold and Dire Straits
  17. Thank you Dire Straits, yes sound does matter. Couple I added to the collection today. Hope to spin this weekend
  18. On vinyl, rolling tubes in the 770 Buffer from Greg. Currently the BB 6dj8 Bit less sound stage but warmer sound, slight less noise than the AR6dj8 that Greg supplied
  19. Well, that tripled my Amazon vinyl wish list!
  20. Happy New Year
  21. The spin clean works quite well. Not sure if you remember my ultrasonic post but I did some microscope magnification of various cleaners, one of them with SC. My latest setup is 30 min in the US cleaner, which is distilled water, 99% IPA and Trition x-100 @ 30c. Then I take them to the spin clean with a distilled water 90%IPA for a few turns in both directions then hung to air dry
  22. Passed the 500 mark Christmas Day cleaned and categorized in my vinyl collection. Have another box to clean in the que. For those interested in my cleaning process search for my DIY ultrasonic thread. I've added a spin clean with distilled water and a few oz IPA as my rinse with air drying.
  23. If your a TP fan, this is a great live album. Sadly they only released it on vinyl, which I own. But, I would love a digital copy (car music) I do not have the means to take from vinyl to digital. Does anyone have a digital copy of this? Paul
