  1. Reading back on my thread from 2 years ago I mentioned Jet dry in the rinse. Maybe a drop or 2 would be good in the rinse. Use the IPA?
  2. Not being a chemist I was viewing the X-100 as Dawn. I felt that by dropping the X-100 in rinse I was eliminating a potential film Always learning and testing
  3. Your using X-100 in the rinse too?
  4. My mistake my conversion in my head was wrong 10mL is what I use, or .33 oz
  5. US Cleaner 128oz DI water 4-6 oz 99% ipa 10mL x-100 Spin dry Fill to the line wit DI water 2oz of 90% IPA
  6. While tinkering this morning around the shop thought I'd share a few shots of my DIY ultrasonic record cleaning setup. This follows up on my old US cleaning thread. I use a solution of DI water, Triton X and 99% ipa in the US bath. I slowly rotate the stack of (4) albums over the course of 30 min at 30C. I then use a spin clean with a DI and mild 90% ipa solution as my rinse step. I have now moved to air drying the albums where I used to wipe down with clothes. I now clean all album new or old. Once they hit the table I us an AT anti static brush
  7. Actually 2, and both excellent from the whole collection of greats. Love over Gold and Dire Straits
  8. Thank you Dire Straits, yes sound does matter. Couple I added to the collection today. Hope to spin this weekend
  9. On vinyl, rolling tubes in the 770 Buffer from Greg. Currently the BB 6dj8 Bit less sound stage but warmer sound, slight less noise than the AR6dj8 that Greg supplied
  10. Well, that tripled my Amazon vinyl wish list!
  11. The spin clean works quite well. Not sure if you remember my ultrasonic post but I did some microscope magnification of various cleaners, one of them with SC. My latest setup is 30 min in the US cleaner, which is distilled water, 99% IPA and Trition x-100 @ 30c. Then I take them to the spin clean with a distilled water 90%IPA for a few turns in both directions then hung to air dry
  12. Passed the 500 mark Christmas Day cleaned and categorized in my vinyl collection. Have another box to clean in the que. For those interested in my cleaning process search for my DIY ultrasonic thread. I've added a spin clean with distilled water and a few oz IPA as my rinse with air drying.
  13. If your a TP fan, this is a great live album. Sadly they only released it on vinyl, which I own. But, I would love a digital copy (car music) I do not have the means to take from vinyl to digital. Does anyone have a digital copy of this? Paul
  14. I'm about 1-1/2 hours east (Asheville) bad times in G'burg. Once again I understand it was arson from fires set in the Great Smokey's I've had fires all around both in the Lake Lure area, about 10 miles away and then in Pisgah National about 20 miles away. The firemen both local and from all over the country have been here a while trying to contain, and now I understand they've moved to Gatlinburg to help. Air quality has been poor at best with lots of very smokey days. We just got a nice day long rain, and more expected today. Hoping the rain helps Gatlinburg too
  15. I've considered this unit as a fun and inexpensive way to play around. Tube Pre Of course I have a few tube pre's still laying around that are soon to find their way to my system now that winter is rolling into town and I'm forced inside.
  16. I own this one, but not actually tested the system. Hmmm, I need to do that this weekend
  17. ++++ I hope to make some progress on my ultrasonic cleaner this week being off from work. I have several hundred albums that need cleaning
  18. Thanks PDR! I am following suit with a diy using the china version off of Ebay (159). I had not seen your diy yet but this has expanded my thoughts on mine. Thanks to Dennis Miller for hyper linking me here. Another DIY for those interested. DIY Ultrasonic

2nd that. But would that "best" be the combination of material and engineering? Engineering-studio and person doing the mixing. Follow that and find one you like I would think? Well, I have determined that any Billy Joel on vinyl are well engineered as what seems to be John Mellancamps stuff I currently own. A lot of the old Jazz and Classical I have inherited is also well done, but that was also when vinyl was the only option

Dang corporate internet filters! Cant search what I want.... If I recall from way back the S curve vs the Straight tonearm comes into play on the opposing signals of the groove. Of course this argument can only be discussed once one agrees upon Chevy or Ford, and White or Wheat bread
