FWIW bass management gets difficult with SACD. The players output 6 channel direct, with minimal processing options, and the processors and receivers that take in the analog 6 channel direct usually don't let you do much with the signals. You're generally stuck with whatever's in the sub channel. IIRC, SACD also assumes "large" speakers in all channels. So if you're running "small" speakers at all, the low bass from those channels is inaccessible.
The alternative is running the analog everything through several channels of crossovers and subsequently mixing. IMHO not the cleanest option, but MiniDSP might be best. Or split into a multichannel bass management processor, so the non-bass is unmolested. Multichannel bass management is rare in single units, but I've been intrigued by the M&K BMC-1.
Am I right on this?
