  1. FWIW bass management gets difficult with SACD. The players output 6 channel direct, with minimal processing options, and the processors and receivers that take in the analog 6 channel direct usually don't let you do much with the signals. You're generally stuck with whatever's in the sub channel. IIRC, SACD also assumes "large" speakers in all channels. So if you're running "small" speakers at all, the low bass from those channels is inaccessible. The alternative is running the analog everything through several channels of crossovers and subsequently mixing. IMHO not the cleanest option, but MiniDSP might be best. Or split into a multichannel bass management processor, so the non-bass is unmolested. Multichannel bass management is rare in single units, but I've been intrigued by the M&K BMC-1. Am I right on this?
  2. Started watching "Kingdom Hospital" again this weekend, so I spun up the CD. Stephen King is a fan of Fountains of Wayne.
  3. Stereo Review, December 1986. I remember reading that article when it first came out! I was already fascinated with Carver gear, but didn't own any. You can buy the original article on eBay HERE .
  4. If one of the drivers is still good, there's always driver measurement systems ...
  5. Welcome to theCarversite, Mach! Thanks for the pics. Wow, it looks like you could hold a rock concert in your bedroom! That Powerlight probably lives up to its name... What kind of music do you listen to?
  6. Welcome to theCarversite, Chris! We've seen the fine work you've done on Gene's gear. What kind of system do you run for yourself?
  7. Welcome back, Mayank! Good to see another East Virginian here.

  10. Thanks for the pics! They look to be in perfect condition. And they fit right in with the others on your collection. Are you going for a 7.1 channel setup now?
  11. I doubt you'd hear a mere 5% difference. Many power resistors have a 10% tolerance anyhow. If it bugs you, a 2.7 in series with a 3.3 would get you 6.0, a little closer. And each could be half the wattage of the original 6.2 . Kinda hard to know which way to err unless you knew how the designer decided on the original value.
