  1. Welcome to the site. Glad you found us. Start a thread with your diagnosis steps. It's probably not a one-thing-fix, but a journey as you go through the steps. That way people can pipe in with more guidance.
  2. I'm hoping that this move will help Roon get more content providers under their wings. Tidal and Qobuz are good, but they really need to get Amazon music and find a way to democratize (through a third party developer program perhaps) all the little content providers into the grand-unified source of musical content. Just my opinion..., but I had read threads on the Roon support sites indicating that Roon could not get traction with Amazon Music because they were too small, and Amazon pondered their own similar solution. This might redirect Amazon's development effort (so they don't end up competing with Samsung - a losing proposition that could suck lots of development resources better spent elsewhere), and open the market for more music content through the Roon interface..., The Roon UI/UX is light years ahead of anything else out there - including Sonus and iTunes/Apple-Airplay in terms of what it does as a platform to help users MANAGE, DISCOVER, and STREAM music content universally on any device to any network-connected endpoint, DAC, and music system (like Carver!!) using a common and exceptional UI/UX.
  3. interesting news..., here's the press link: https://news.harman.com/releases/harman-acquires-roon-a-popular-multi-device-multi-room-audio-technology-platform I am hoping that this is a good thing. Are you a Roon user? If so, What do you think?
  4. Welcome @Fidelity First, glad you found us. Follow those search threads and learn from others who have gone before you!
  5. You're old handle is still active, and your contributions over time are still here! 😉 "dazed_and_confused" A members list is available under "Community" drop down menu at the top, click on "Members"
  6. Welcome back! @AudioResurgence. Perhaps do you recall your name/handle back when you were a member previously? That would help connect the dots for old timers. Love seeing old timers come back to see what's going on. Great blog, btw. It would be great to see you share a link to your projects here, from time to time! 😉
  7. Cool! Welcome back! Looking to see as many old timers come back as possible..., ...it be like a "reunion!" 😉
  8. No worries about naming products, sources, and even product vendors and good value websites to find parts, etc., etc...., it all helps the community find similar solutions as you find yours. It's all in the spirit of sharing knowledge that helps others in the community. I don't think anyone will consider you to be spamming, especially as you put a "what I learned" or "how to" thread out on everything you learn. Spamming usually is something that is non-audio-related, or out to sell something..., so no worries there - you are just sharing knowledge that can help someone.
  9. Welcome to the site, @Anymouse. Glad you found us. Teh key, I have found, is to have a good antenna, along with the TX-11a or b. If you put your TX-11 in the source stream, and have a minimal or one of those desktop antenna's, you need to live downtown of a major city to get anything..., just my opinion. Once you have a good antenna, you will draw in signals that the TX-11a/b can really process and with Bob's ACCD, you will be amazed at the sound quality. I had a thread here about my antenna, an amazon special I mounted in my attic. There's another thread or two about building a "Copper Cactus" FM antenna. Also another very good choice. Antenna's will amaze your experience with bob's tuners. And, when you are ready to pick up a TX tuner, please let me know - I may still have one from my stash, after Christmas 😉 Here's the threads:
  10. Welcome, @papa-j. Glad you found us. Looking forward to your repair threads..., why not start with the refresh of that TDR-2400? Again, welcome!

  17. Love an easy fix! Great news. Stick around and enjoy! 😉
  18. What about that awesome video of the series vs parallel battery experiments? How does that fit and apply to the magnetic field amplifier design, and dynamics of audio reproduction?
  19. This is excellent. Can you post links to research and writings that support some of the things that we know? Like dynamic load testing? You posted something recently from Ed Blackwood, and a couple things before that in the chat box, which is transient. Would love to have all those things memorialized in one place.
  20. DBpoweramp is a dream..., and if you have a lot of CDs, or an audio-club that wants to do this, and you want to take it to the next level of automation..., you'll want one of these - an Acronova Nimbie BR/CD/DVD autoloader. The Nimbie works with DBpoweramp software..., DBpoweramp website even recommends this drive. (Using your imagination..., and considering all your friends with CDs..., you can see how this can expand your digitally-ripped CD library..., really big, really fast!) Pricey..., but if you split the cost with 10 of your audio-club friends..., it's affordable. True statement..., and if you automate, you'll definitely want to think carefully about how you set this all up, to get the outcome you want.
  21. Welcome @Shannon. Glad you found us. The first place I would look to learn more about your Amazing Silver's is the Manuals Library. That's accessed from the horizontal menu at the top of the home page. After that, I would use the Search box (upper right) to search on various keywords to find threads on Amazing Silvers, Crossovers, rebuilds, etc. etc..., get creative on the keywords..., there's a LOT of data here.
  22. We have a Thursday Night Audio Group, called "Vinyl Night" here in my neighborhood. Two of our members own EVERY high end vinyl recording..., not just the MOFI ones, but a whole host of "newly remastered..." stuff. Bottom line, it sure sounds good to me, on $25,000++ systems they have when we meet on their week at their house. For me, that's a hobby - buying every MoFi, and other new quality vinyl release as it comes out - that I can't afford. I have several hundred maybe a couple thousand, albums on vinyl, but they are all the usual record store stuff, and some that I bought, back in my college days 40 years+ ago. My friends buy two of everything and put one on ice, to sell later when the price goes up... - too rich for me. So, to answer the question, no, my old, tired, used vinyl collection does not sound better. Their stuff? Hmmm, that's some darn good vinyl..., but for me, it's Roon, and digital. That produces great sound on my system, for me. And, it's within my budget.
  23. @3M_Audio Please start a repair thread on that unit in the appropriate Source topic. I have one, and it is in need of something, too. Hopefully, I'll be able to follow along with your work, and figure mine out! 😉
  24. WOW! thank you, @Blueprintt these are awesome!
  25. Welcome, @Quattro, glad you found us!
