    Welcome. Could be a couple things. Relays, balance knob or the switches on the input board that the cables go to from the source and dubbing flat knobs. You can spray those switches as well as the balance knob with deoxit and work them to see if it helps. You can get to them by removing the bottom panel.

    Have you cleaned any of the selector switches? I had some noise issues and it turned out to be the input switch.

    As @wrf has suggested, you need to use a Variac. I use one on all equipment. That way you have control of the power and watch what is going on. Have you tried to adjust the SVR801 to see if High rail voltage will drop? By reading your post, you have left a lot of unanswered questions.

    I kept my volume pot when I upgraded my C2 with a motorized/remote control volume. You are welcome to have it. But there are many access points open that pot to get some cleaner in there.
