  1. Welcome to the Carver Site.
  2. From what I have seen, anyone who would consider buying a tube amp already knows that it's not about the measurements. I've never owned a tube amp, but I can understand this. It's just like those who swear by vinyl over digital. There's just something about the sound that is preferable. At that point, the devices you use to listen to music become part of the art of music. Good art will never sell in high volumes but can command a high price given enough passionate art lovers who appreciate the piece. Good art is not made in high volume in China.
  3. shoot, I had more questions... I just didn't want to be the only one asking them.... If you get this routine back up and running, here are a few more questions I had.... 1. Does Bob benchmark other brands/other amplifier builders? Are there any current makers, besides Carver of course, who make nice sounding gear? Or, who would Bob consider his chief competition? 2. (I happen to really like vintage Infinity speakers.) Did Bob ever do any work with Arnie Nudell? Does he have any stories/anecdotes from back in the day? 3. What is Bob's favorite music to listen to when he's dialing in an amp? What is his "test" music of choice?
  4. Not necessarily new, they've been around a while......but new to me. I've been listening to this band a bit lately. I really like the "new old" sound these guys have... bluesy, raw. This is one of my favorite songs..... and the video is easy on the eyes, too :).
  5. Question for Bob: Of all the products he's designed over the years- What is his favorite and his least favorite?

  7. If you're getting too busy and need help, I would like to apply for the position of 'quality control checker' on the amps :).
  8. Welcome to the Carver Site! For the C1, I recommend Nelion Audio to do refurbishment and BillD mods..... You'll find plenty of others on this site who feel the same. https://nelionaudio.com/

  10. Absolutely gorgeous piece of equipment. If they sound anywhere as good as they look, they will be instant classics in the market. I remember when the first iPad came out... I had this urge to just hold one in my hands. I have that same urge to just touch one of these beautiful amps.

  19. There's something special about handling a record album, looking at the album art.....Heck, sometimes even the smell of an old record is unique. And, putting a record album on the turntable to play is a "commitment" to listen to the entire side of the album, which is what the artist intended. So, you're more likely to hear songs that you may otherwise skip on a CD or streaming session. But, digital recordings (CD resolution or higher) have better sound quality, in my opinion.

  22. I again want to say thanks to all who attended for showing such great hospitality to me and my wife. It was my first time to attend and I truly enjoyed it. Mostly, I enjoyed meeting like-minded folks who love music and high quality audio. Just a super bunch of people, all around. And, the location is great, too. The cabins are very nice, and the Smoky Mountains are great for scenery and adventure activities, and Bryson City is even a nice little town to visit. I'd love to come back again next year to stay a bit longer and bring some of my own gear to show others. Thanks again to all who organized the event and all who made us newbies feel very welcome.
