  9. Geddy Lee does some pretty solid bass playing... . Love the bass playing on several Rush songs... including this one.
  10. Interesting info. I am surprised Radio is still a big chunk....though, I suppose there are lots of people listening while stuck in traffic during their commute........

  13. Ed, I just booked for 3 nights Th-Sunday, 9/12-15th. Looks like Treehouse A was open on those days, so I took that since parking is closer to the door, and I'm gonna bring a RAM285 and a big pair of speakers with me. (Let me know if that's ok.... I'll be glad to switch it back to Treehouse C like last year.... it's just that it has a long stone walkway to navigate.) Not sure yet if it's just me or if my wife Beth will also be with me, like last year.
  14. Welcome to the Carver site, Jim! I'm in NC, too.....Charlotte.
  15. Saw Cage the Elephant in concert last night (with Young the Giant opening up). Best concert I've been to in a while. Lots of energy.... lead singer (Matt Schulz) gave a great performance even though he was on a knee scooter with a broken foot the whole time.
  16. What preamp do you have? If you have a Carver preamp, you should have some RCA jack input/output for an "external processor" loop which gives you control to use anything like a DTL processor (essentially like an equalizer) at any time regardless which input you are listening to... Other preamps have this feature too, I'm sure, but probably not all... Here's what the Carver Preamps usually look like..... Otherwise, the manual for the DTL unit advises putting it between CD player and preamp. But, I think you may still be ok to put it behind the preamp....I think that's how an EQ would be placed in a system without an external processing loop... But, I'm not 100% sure....there are better minds on this site who may know better.....
  17. The story of how they recorded the song "I'm not in love" is kinda cool.....

  19. Dan, I don't know if you may come up to Charlotte, NC from Hilton Head. But, if you are looking for simple repairs, there's a guy I work with... Sasa (pronounced Sasha).... He's great. Low prices and great work. He's popular and get's backed up several weeks. But, I really like him. He'll tell you right away if it's something he's not comfortable working on (business card below). If you are looking for complex repair work, or refurbishment work, Greg at Nelion is the best, as others have mentioned.

  21. Update: Spent last night with my new (old) turntable with the SHURE cartridge. Some Van Morrison, some AC/DC, and some Fleetwood Mac on vinyl. It's not bad. Not really different than my other Tecnhics SL D2 with the Ortofon Blue. Maybe a little less bright... which is not a bad thing sometimes on records that have a few pops and clicks in them. Definitely not a basket case in need of immediate investment in a new cartridge. I may replace it someday when I'm feeling the need to part with a few hundred dollars. Thanks again, all, for the info.
  22. One of my all time favorites.
